Actually Viking is a gerund not a verb...

the infinitive form of the verb would be: "to vike"

the past participle would be viked.. as in "He got viked."

as a gerund: "He went viking" - a gerund being a verb used as a noun.

Someone who "vikes" would be known as a "viker"

P.S. found this at the urban dictionary:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Vike

1. Shaking head here------too old to get it.
Maybe you should remove the capital "V" from your header.

6. That'd help. The upper case V makes it a proper noun.
And gerunds ARE verbs used as nouns, although what is claimed as this particular verb "to vike" is jargon and, hence, not part of common usage.

3. "Vik" is the Old Norse word for "town".
Cognate with English "wich" (like Greenwich). Viking means "he who goes to other viks", that is, traders and raiders.

11. thanks for that info. I always like to learn word origins.
Another is yankees. The first settlers of New York (new Amsterdam) were Dutch, and the generic nickname for them was Jan Kees, or John Cheese. It evolved into yankees. (I think)
