Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 02:06 AM by uponit7771
Jus sayin, if the HCR bill is THAT bad then shouldn't some be helping the GOP in getting the bill nullified?

Seems to be a lot of anger in the face of progress no?

Your take?

TIA

8. Its a Republican Idea. Theyll just muck it up more
It was proposed as the National Health Insurance Partnership under Nixon.

I don't think theyll toss it anytime soon (they are just angry a black Democrat is passing it).

Instead, theyll fuck it up like college funding

And I hope they do. This bill is designed to institutionalize an industry that should hardly exist.

Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 02:02 AM by Marr
You're trying to suggest that people who are against this bill are Republicans, or willing to help Republicans get elected. How cute.

For the record, no... I would not help Republicans get elected. I see no reason to help one corporate fraud party unseat another. But if they do, and if they dump this healthcare bill, I won't cry for it.

16. The bill is niot what you wanted but it's a LOT better than what we have!
I don't have a dog in this fight. My hubby & I are on Medicare now. I want improvements for YOU! It's a giant step forward to eliminate pre-existing conditions and dropping people because they cost the damn ins. co. too much! It's a big help to a lot of people to mandate kids be allowed to stay on their parent's HC until age 26. It will eliminate annual or lifetime caps.

WHY can't you look at the positives in the bill instead of constantly only finding the negatives???

I remember how angry I was when the Pubbies passed the Medicare Part D drug bill! But I have to tell you, it has helped a lot of older people who had NO DRUG BENEFIT. I still hate the idea that there's a dounut hole, but I understand that this new HC bill will eliminate that too.

Sure, single payer would have been better, but look how hard it is trying to pass THIS BILL. Single payer didn't stand any chance at all and you know it.

Try looking at the glass half full for a change instead of always half empty!

47. I suggest you check your own info!
The bill also ends discrimination by insurance companies against people with preexisting conditions

http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time.com/2009/12/24/more-reax-on-senate-hc-vote/

He said insurers should no longer be able to deny coverage for preexisting conditions, drop coverage when a policyholder gets sick, or jack up premiums. "We allow the insurance industry to run wild in this country," Obama said.

Google Pre-existing conditions Senate HC Bill and you'll find many sources that state that IT DOES!

19. I doubt they would be able too.
They may not want to vote for it, but if they overturn it and the horrible spiral of the insurance monopoly continues they will be to blame. It's like Medicare, they hate it but they don't want to get rid of it. If they do they will be voted out of office the first chance. Because if it is passed, people will want to see if it works, the majority of people not the Tbaggers.

26. Yeah, I don't think it is great but it is something.
Sure I would have loved to see single-payer or at least a public option. But some of the things in the bill are good ideas, but they are surrounded by corporate kickbacks. I feel that this is probably the best we can do right now, given our leadership in Congress.

23. This is a really good point. The fact they're on the same side
as the GOP as far as whether the bill should pass should make them think. It should make them think real hard about their position. I don't know why that gets glossed over in their arguments the way it does. I've even seen it attributed to a scam by the GOP to trick us, which is just nuts. But there is a reason the GOP is fighting it, and they aren't giving it a token fight either. It isn't a sham. They don't want the this reform to pass because it would be a huge win for our side. It's a move in the right direction, even if it isn't the final destination. They know that. I really hope for the sake of the uninsured suffering in our country that no efforts to obstruct this historic passage are successful. It would be beyond shameful. And I could just see the GOP and the insurance companies cackling with glee.
