Keeping It Real In The Workplace..AGAIN

........This morning one of the 62 inch flat screens was tuned into the stats page for my work and the other in to CNN...CNN was doing a story on Heath Care reform when the fellow new hire employee in the cubical next to mine said YEP Socialized medicine will be hated here by next year if it is passed....he said go to Canada where they wait 6 months to have a procedure done.... I spoke up and asked him of those in Canada who have to wait how many die waiting.....Ill have to look it up....do you think it tops 45000...oh probably not that many he said then asked me what 45000 was...I said that is the estimate in this country that die each year who cant afford insurance and then went on to inform him that the health care bill wont be in effect till 2014 so I think people will be more pissed that they have to wait then not...

I then said most of the wait times in Canada are for elective/non urgent surgery and six month is exaggerated...you don't believe someone in need of chemotherapy or bypass surgery in Canada waits do you??

By this point his eyes looked like a set of fresh thrown dice on a Vegas craps table and his lips like he had been out in the cold to long.. The phone rang saving him from further truth and back to work I went.
