2. Hockey nation? They only won 2 golds?
:)

They dominated Olympic Gold this year in a ton of sports. 14 in all. Awesome job!

13. Only takes one gold medal in men's hockey to be the # 1 hockey nation. Congratulations Canada!
Edited on Sun Feb-28-10 07:01 PM by LaPera
No "sour-grapes" allowed.

However, did anyone really expect team USA to beat a Canadian team twice, a nation that lives and breathes hockey....Especially the way the American press (Canada of course get our media as well) was making such a big deal over the first win over Canada and some even predicting the gold medal for Team USA - Team Canada was no way going to allow it (as we just witnessed) after all that American media hype....

Canada is indeed king of the hockey world!

Anyway, aint no shame in winning a silver medal in the Olympics....Congratulations too, to my team. - Team USA!

17. The US team lived up to a lot of that hype.
They had the best goalie in the tournament. In hockey, that can equal a Stanley Cup, or a gold medal. They had lots of grit, great defence, and tons of offence. Being Canadian, I'm happy Canada won, but I would take no shame in losing to the US, a very good hockey team that came within one shot of winning gold.

Congrats to the US hockey team.

Oh yeah, I did, you must of missed it!! Congratulations too, to my team. - Team USA!"

"Coming within one shot of winning gold" What if? That's such complete bullshit....

The USA could also possibly have had a hundred shots on goal and never have scored....as If someone wins a basketball game by one bucket then someone says "if" the other team only would of hit just two more of their missed attempts in the game they would of won....You're point is ridiculous....uh, that's what sports are all about....NOT what if....Canada was the better team, Congratulations Canada, and Canada indeed has the worlds best hockey team....bar none!!

And I'll say it again......

"Aint no shame in winning a silver medal in the Olympics. Congratulations too, to my team". - Team USA!"

25. Congrats on the win, but a goal in an overtime period in which you were being dominated ...
hardly qualifies as an "ass-kicking".

22. Yes, Team USA can be proud....
And don't forget, they DID beat Canada in the Olympics in game 1! They gave the whole country of Canada a hell of a scare, and had they won, I would have been almost as proud, being a Canuck here in the US, if the US would have won. That would have been OK with me, because it would be good for hockey here. The long faces on the US team meant one thing... they are HOCKEY players.... and they don't like silver! Miller was a rock in net, and the US was explosive in many charges at the net. I felt equally proud of the Canadian Womens team, but also the grit of the US womens team. GREAT hockey! And as far as I am concerned, the gold and silver stays in North America from now on, whether in the USA or Canada... fine by me!

I have to bite my tongue on this claim. I'll call them gracious victors, not necessarily sportsmanlike.

Always got make things about America. I take it you're an American, huh? Whether we say something good or bad, why can't we as Americans stop trying to one-down or one-up everything?

26. Well as the U.S. team had already told reporters they 'hated' and 'disliked'
Edited on Mon Mar-01-10 09:48 AM by polly7
our team beforehand, I'd say bad sportmanship never ends up well. Maybe a little less hate and a little more comaradarie in the spirit of the Olympics would have been more helpful. But heh ..... who knows, maybe hate works for them for other things. It'll be interesting to see them all back playing together again. OOPSIE.

21. To Our Canadian Friends and team Canada and our team USA, Congratulations on a Game Well Played!

It's too bad there can only be one winner in the Gold Medal Game. We are very proud of the US Team and their excellent play.

Let's do it again, next Olympics!

27. The Gold medal game looked like a Wednesday night at the Saddle Dome.
4 man back trap for 50 + minutes is NOT great hockey--it's any old night in the NHL.
