Who else saw the refreshing(albeit short-lived) return to adult late-night viewing
I am referring to, of course, Craig Ferguson's homage to Tom Snyder last night.. His one guest..The charming, witty Stephen Fry..

You can even watch it online if you missed it.. (click at the link below)

What a wonderful respite from all the book-hawking , lame singers & even lamer guests..just showing up to push a lame movie:)

They talked about personal stuff, funny stuff, politics..everything.. and the hour flew by..

I wonder if CBS may be ready to resuscitate late night tv for grownups..

Who's The King Of Late Nite? Craig Ferguson
Last night (Tuesday/Wednesday from 12:30 am to 1:30 am), Craig Ferguson delivered another brilliant night of TV by simply doing away with the audience and talking for one hour to one guest. Of course, he loaded the deck by making that guest the endlessly witty, clever, insightful, thoughtful talk show-guest-of-your-dreams Stephen Fry. But still, it was an arresting, wonderful hour akin to the glory days of Dick Cavett when he would just spend a day or two or an entire week talking to someone that fascinated him (and therefore us).

3. Tom Snyder used to do it EVERY night.. I cried when they canceled him
My youngest son is a night-owl like me and even as a young kid, he loved Tom too..and that kid learned a lot..and knew about people that youngsters his age had never heard of..

Tacky comedy & tired old routines are a dime-a-dozen, but this type of show is special.. I hope he does a show like this at least once a week..or better yet, permanently:)

5. Fire up a colortini, sit back, relax, and ...
watch the pictures, now, as they fly through the air.

I watched him every night for years and years. I will never forget his interview with Little Richard.

7. Was he the fellow who used to have Harlan Ellison on all the time?
I was too young to really appreciate his show, but I'm a huge Ellison fan and now wish I had seen more of those interviews.

16. Tom Snyder could have had a pile of dirty socks in the guest chair....
...and he would have managed to pull an hour of great TV
from the discussion, I tellyawhut!

9. Two guys on late-night television
quoting Wordsworth back and forth at each other. How cool was that?

12. Craig Ferguson is a special man -
I work late nights, so I'm home and winding down when his show comes on.
There is something about him, I don't know what it is...

He's out there and vulnerable and he's so self effacing - I love him.

He's going to do a stand up show in March in Tampa and I'm thinking I'm there.
I understand his stand up act is everything you would think it would be.

He's one unique personality.

18. Short-lived? He won't be doing it again?
Awwwwww! Really? I thought it was AWESOME! I love Craig and don't really need the audience there getting in the way (I'm so selfish, lol, I want him alllll to myself!)

20. short-lived as in...only one hour.
I hope he does repeat it, but knowing how the knuckle-heads at tv studios act, they may not let him.. Dave is his boss, so if Dave wants him to branch out, it will happen.. I'd like to see it once a week..at least :)
