Republican "Prayer" against Health Care Reform (satire)
Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 06:40 PM by goodboy
I wrote this in response on another board to someone who said, "God help us all if the general welfare clause to the preamble of the Constitution is going to be used to justify government solving everything that is wrong with society...."

God?
4 out of 5 working families in America don't have healthcare, yet they selfishly choose to buy food and pay bills than buy terrible unaffordable insurance with super high premiums and deductibles that bankrupt them even further. Some people, dear God have the audacity to get terminally ill, and think that they don't have to pay their medical bills.

They're not even the least bit grateful when the holy insurance companies graciously drop them from their rolls to increase profits. And as the bills pile up while they try desperately to stay alive against your will Lord, they do not rejoice as the banks take their homes, and everything they own to leave them in the blessed state of destitution and bankruptcy.

We know that in your mercy 45,000 Americans every single year die, because they weren't rich enough to afford insurance. Lord, we ask that you keep taking poor sick Americans to heaven rather that keeping them alive here on Earth because if we have government run healthcare more people might work, and have healthier lives, and happier families, and boost the economy. We are afraid of this Lord, because we don't want anyone else to have what we have, even though it won't affect us in the least if our neighbors and their children and elderly parents have affordable health care. We know that you said, "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, you do to Me." But we know what you really meant. *wink wink*

We humbly ask that you give us strength in our selfishness and greed and hatred. Please bless the insurance companies and maximize their profits as they help kill off the weakest among us, including children (and especially minorities). Give us the energy to protest against helping our fellow man at all costs. Help us to always find money for wars and killing, and tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires in your name - but never ever shall we save lives, and improve the quality of life for anyone either here at home or around the world.

Amen.

EDIT: spelling.

3. NIce "Prayer"
Why is it so difficult for working class Republicans to see how badly we all need this? I mean this includes them. It's like they have some kind of mind virus that prevents them from seeing they are slaves to the Corporations like most of us.
