It's snowing in the SC Lowcountry!
We have a light dusting on the ground in Summerville (near Charleston) with 4-6in accumulation expected. It rained earlier, the temp is expected to drop into the 20's, so icing on roads (esp. bridges) will be hazardous, to say the least. The problem is that we have no snowplows, only dump trucks with salt and sand. Sure glad I don't have to go out tonight!

Stay safe everyone.

1. Whoo hoo! Savannah's waiting for it.
I don't see how we'll see any accumulation with all the wet stuff already on the ground.

Enjoy (for a few hours)! :toast:

3. The dogs are oblivious.
I can't wait until they ask to go out. We're talking Southern dogs-they're never seen snow!

5. All of the above.
I'm orginally from the mountains of Va, so got prepared as soon as I heard that snow was in the forecast. I also have a fireplace and lots of wood. Since I'm retired, I don't have to get out and drive, so I'm all set. Of course, of all the prep I did, the most important thing was getting enough cat food stocked up. I'd hate for the dogs and I to be casualities. Nothing more dangerous than a hungry feline and I have 8 of them!

6. The last significant snow we had here
was Christmas of '89 (after Hugo). That was an El Nino year, too, IIRC. We had 9in of snow Christmas morning. The funny part is that I decided not to go home for Christmas that year because I was afraid I'd get snowed in up in the mountains. There wasn't even a flake of snow there. Go figure!

8. Yep. I've lived here since '87.
I retired from the Navy Hospital in '91. Ashley River Rd is so pretty. Love all those live oaks with the Spanish Moss. I like the beaches in the off season, but can't take the heat during the summer anymore.

I was also stationed in Beaufort. Liked it evern better than Chas. It was so nice to be able to get to Chas or Savannah within an hour in either direction.

14. I was the nursing supervisor for OB-GYN
and Peds when I was stationed there. The hospital is closed now, just a couple of clinics/outpt services. Rumor has it that the building might be turned over to the VA, but nothing's been confirmed yet.

12. Good one!
It sure is. I just looked out in the backyard. There's a rodent in my fly-thru bird feeder and a feral cat in my storage shed. I fear this will not end well.

13. Rush hour in Atlanta looked like a mess.
The CNN weatherman was not a happy camper. Traffic was going about 5mph on the interstate, and his shift was about to end. I'm betting he's spending the night at the office.

15. Makes it tough to light the barbecue, doesn't it?
I have to love a state that embraces all four forms of barbecue sauce!

31. Not yet!
I do use the Sticky Fingers sauces, though. I always come back from my Southern vacations with new sauces to try, you can find some great ones either at barbecue restaurants, or even in the upscale supermarkets.

Yeah, they try to do barbecue up here, but they really should stick to the pizza!

21. Be careful driving.
Stay off the roads unless you have a death wish. Driving in snow around here is a blood sport. You couldn't pay me to drive anywhere tonight.

Well, it ain't as little as it used to be, though, is it?

I had the lights flicker here a little while ago. Hope that doesn't happen.

Anyway,be sure to share those pics when you get 'em, and I hope sat comes back.

25. There's at least 3 of us here.
I hope the sat comes back, too, since my breathing is hooked up to the TV and the computer! It sure is quiet here, except the dog snores really loud! Sure hope we don't lose power, but I wouldn't be surprised. I lost it 3 times the day we had all that wind and it was sunny. I'm afraid the think about what's going to happen in a snowstorm.

29. Hey, neighbor!
Now there are 4 DUer's in S'ville. We should start a chapter or something!
Are you loving the snow? The branches on my live oak and pine trees are almost touching the ground!

The dogs went out, 2 of them stayed and played, the other 2 almost killed each other trying to get back through the door. They were NOT amused!
