Late Night Open Thread. Please everyone post your thoughts.
I have posted in several threads tonight. Not getting a lot of feedback. Actually, let me correct that, I am getting NONE!!

Here are my thoughts on the day:

More layers of the onion being peeled. It is amazing as we have focused on the big picture for the last several years, the little guys have been running amok.

Really???? Condi is not RSVPing? Who would have thunk?

Nice that the Senate echoed the voices in the House with respect to troop deployment. A victory of sorts. Let's see what happens. I am sure it will ultimately be watered down. But hey, we are moving in the right direction.

DEBATE: It was not on my schedule. I read through a few of the threads. My thoughts: WTH, it is awfully early for me to get on board. The questions were, well what I would expect from an MSM hosted debate. I am not real excited or committed to a candidate yet. I am still waiting for Al, but I really need him to explain his position about free trade before I am even willing to commit to even him.

My uncle is in real pain and dying an awful death from cancer. My poor cousin Mike is just besides himself, and it is very, very, sad.

Anyway...

What is your take?

1. I worked tonight andmet a guy in the`Guard who is headed back to Iraq
he`volunteered to return, he's leaving tomorrow. Just got back Thanksgiving.

Divorced, said his life was going nowhere here, so he;s heading back.

I asked what his buddies say about the Dem's timetable, he says he;s not hearing anything. He was basically apolitical, but said the kids over there break his heart and he's headed back in hopes of helping the children have a better life.

2. What a fine, compassionate soul.
They say the people that have spent a while incarcerated become institutionalized.

Bless his soul. May the gods protect him.

3. I just watched the debates on msnbc's website.
They have the debates divided into 6 parts, I think.

My main thought throughout was that I thought the Democratic Party candidates did well. I winced a couple of times, but overall I felt good about the whole thing.

One thing that I thought we did a poor job on *again* was in speaking about how 'tough' we are on the terrorism issue. The Dem's were more-or-less asked to respond to the Republicans (Guilliani's) charges that we're weak on terrorism. It's a b.s. charge and it's b.s that we are ever put in a position to defend ourselves. I really wish one of the Democrats would just call out the Republicans about this in a more powerful and succinct rebuttal. Stay away from pointing out how the ports and borders are *still* unsecure under Bush. We've been saying that for years. Nobody cares, evidently. We need a nice, quick, hard-hitting one-liner to rebut the GOP on this issue that exposes the GOP for the chickenhawk liars that they are.

4. I have often wondered about the "framing" of questions and issues.
Why are they talking about subjects that are not AT THE FOREFRONT of peoples minds?

It seems like they ALL want to take us back to this fear that we are supposed to be living in.

I really think that the public is "over" that kind of scare tactic.

This mis-judge people. Even those that rely totally upon the MSM for their news (the ones with IQs over 80) are calling bs.

I think everyone feels in one way or the other, bought and sold.

You want to know fear? Try paying your bills on time. Talk about freakin' terror. You want to really crap your pants?? Look at your Exxon credit card bill at the end of the month.

The scare tactics aint' gonna work any more.

This country needs real, drastic, and immediate change. And everyone that is not on crack knows it.
