Poll question: Will the Afghanistan mission ever be a "military success" ?
Military success = the "threat" from the Taliban to American security interests is eliminated or at least "adequately controlled". I have my strong doubts. See Britain 1920, Russia 1989.

That will fix it.

3. I'm amazed at the hubris to think we might be the first foreigners
to conquer Afghanistan in 900 years. I don't care how many bombs we drop, or Hellfire missles we blow off drones; it ain't gonna happen.

4. Considering we can't even persuade the Teabaggers out of their hatred for government, the whole
premise is conflicted.

6. Military success? No. Afghanistan can only be a political success
and the only way to effectively accomplish a political success is to grant autonomy to the tribes and have a loose confederacy at a higher level.
