The Who; For the love of God ..... please stop!
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 08:16 PM by Botany

And I love the Who.

Please stop ..... let me keep my memories.

Edit ....

That was like watching Ella Fitzgerald about 2 years before she died ....

I had seen her 3 times before ...... I wanted to cry. She was one of the best ever .... same
for the Who.

62. No one played like the Ox.
Zach filled in nicely for Keith for a while in the 90s, but w/o John...there just isn't enough there to still be The Who.

I love The Who...but it sounds like I made the right decision not to watch tonight...

Roger just cannot hit some of the notes that he used to.

I've been a huge fan forever. Had nosebleed seats in 1971 at Forest Hills Stadium on the Who's Next tour. Roger's voice has always been incredible - but it's time to put aside the difficult pieces.

That was pretty sad, IMO - and I'm a long, long-time fan.

83. CROWD SINGING BULLSHIT!!!

It sounded too 'miked' to really be the crowd... And since there were not any actors pretending to be fans around the stage like there has been previously, it seems to be impossible to record the crowd singing along that CONSISTANTLY.... Probably backup vocalists under the stage or nearby. And maybe it was my DISH sat connection, but at one point, Daltrey's mouth did not match the sounds I was hearing. Miming to a track??? I have experienced the same thing watching Keith or Tweety at times... It seemed that after that the director stopped showing him in close up, as to not to bust him not really singing??? And if that was not live, the track that we heard was the BEST they could get out of him yesterday or whenever they recorded the track... Yikes, I don't really know but what I did see was only 50% of the band still alive and apparently for me I need like 75% to not say---- wait for it---- "Who is/was that???

Man, he's fucking terrible....Moon used to lead the Who - pushing them hard, in all different directions he decided to take them, they've had decent drummers since Moon...Kenny Jones was fair....But this drummer (Starkey) is an insult to Moon's drumming on Who cuts Moon played & recorded on....

46. Good, I'm not the only one who thought they sucked.
At least they didn't play "My Generation". Hope I die before I get old, indeed.

Roger Daltrey can't hit the high notes any more and did Pete Townsend lipsynch the "Scream" when they did "Won't get fooled again"?

The 60s rockers who'll die with their reputations intact will be those who died before they lived long enough to become an embarrassment. Well maybe Clapton. He became a bluesman and bluesmen can age gracefully.

Changed from "Hope I die before I get old" to "Wanna die young and I wanna get old" - WTF

That just makes me mad. That's one of the most famous lyrics in rock history. Maybe I'm hearing it wrong but it's on the flo tv (useless product) website - http://www.flo.tv/#/MyGeneration

But I love Iggy, and I know he barely made a dime over the years. He's got an excuse. Plus the ads are pretty sick.

Edit- The Who? I moved on around 1980, and never listened again. There's way too much music for repeating much of anything. I've been riding a wave of something most people don't know exists, for thirty years. Hip hop was fun.

I belong to a Porsche forum, and one of the guys took a picture of Johnny at a race. Teeth and all.

It's so weird because PIL and Sex Pistols were complete nonbands. They were almost combatant about how they were enterprises, or some such thing. Experiences? But not bands. Haha.

Yeah, I ended up doing real estate as well. Which is weird because I hated realtors with all of my heart most of my life. I still despise developers. And yet that's just what I'm doing right now. But one house on 100 acres is hardly considered shit development. Karma.

61. is it just our TV, or has CBS been having sound problems the whole time?
The crowd noise when the teams went out onto the field sounded more like a three-year-old trying to blow out birthday candles... sort of a whuuush noise but nothing more. The clips of the players saying... well, something, it was all inaudible... at the beginning didn't work either. Was that a local thing with our CBS channel, or did anybody else notice that?

To me, the music sounded thin, but not actually bad. I think there were problems with the sound engineering that made it sound wimpy.

76. They wouldn't let Michael Moore use "Wont Get Fooled Again" for F911
Not sure if there was anything behind it, but I was always wondering about that.

80. I was begging them from our family room to smash their instruments
I can't BELIEVE they didn't sing "My Generation".

The power, anger and rebellion in their music is gone.

The best halftime show, bar none, and I'm a huge Springsteen fan: Prince. He owned that stage, he owned that audience. I don't think we'll ever see anything as good again.

86. I liked it.
Lots of ageism in this thread. You should all look/sound like they did when you're pushing 70.

89. Me Too - Free Live Music
I saw the Who when I was 17 and they did the entire rock opera of Tommy, then in 1999 they did Quadrophenia in it's entirety.

One of my favorite bands.
