Would any other 1st world country take Sarah Palin seriously?
I, for one, doubt it. And I also believe that, on average, Americans are among the dumbest people in the world.

This woman is selling snake oil and millions of idiots are lining up to buy it.

Can anyone believe that the Europeans and the advanced countries of Asia aren't laughing at us? First we had Bush Jr. and now we've got Palin being taken seriously by so many.

The sane people of the world must think we have gone totally bonkers. And many of them live in fear of our nuclear arsenal and what idiot we might elect to control it.

It sure scares the hell out of me. Let your mind play "what if" for a moment and picture her with her finger on "the button."

2. Sure, Italy took Mussolini seriously, Germany took Hitler seriously,

And frankly I imagine that there is a quiver of fear going through the Europeans right now, not laughter. After all, Palin is now the new face of fascism, pretty, perky, but fascism nonetheless.

The only question is will we willingly acquiesce to her rule. She's not going to go through the Republican machine, she would lose badly. The 'Pugs, at least those with the money, don't want her. That's why McCain lost, the Republican establishment took a look at Palin and fled the party.

Palin's best hope is to go third party in a year when the Democratic party is splitting up. That could very well happen in '12, and if enough folks on the left are pissed at Obama, Palin could get in.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

3. it came out loud and clear this morning on WJ
Person after person calling in to say they were tired of intellectual politicians with their big words.

So they admire sarah because she does not use big words or offer complex solutions.

Just unbelievable that education, experience and intelligence work against our candidates. Better to be a person the voters would like to "drink a beer with" than to offer solutions using multi-syllables.

4. Italy still takes Berlusconi seriously
but I think he's far more competent and hard-working (at pushing his own agenda) than she is, so it's not a direct comparison. It's pretty frightening that they've elected him more than once, though.

6. She so reminds me of Anita Bryant. Her looks are the only reason she's gotten any traction.

9. Media hype seems to be the secret to success
Do you suppose we'll see Paris Hilton run for Prez when she's old enough?

I'm looking forward to her expressing her policies.

Then again, whatever drivel she spouts couldn't be any more stupid/vile/trivial/dishonest or ignorant than what comes out of the mouths of today's Republican congresspersons and senators.
