Well... there's one thing Obama's succeeded in doing this past week
The level of bickering on DU and other liberal sites is at its lowest level in several months.

The Massachusetts results, The SCOTUS ruling, the SOTU address, the GOP beatdown... they've all proven to focus our collective minds.

We've finally noticed that the (Republican) barbarians are truly at the gate and decided that our intra-family squabbles will have to move to the back burner.

We've got a Democratic Republic to save.... and Benjamin Franklin's famous words are true now as ever:

"We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately."

It's nice to see. Let's not lose this.... at least until after November.

3. The Democrats have had the majority for over a year
...so how the f**k can the Republicans be 'at the gate?'

Please

4. Because they're winning the PR battle.. they have the media, the corporations, and the supreme court

They're in full-court-press mode, because they see the threat that Obama is to them.

5. If the Republicans 'have the media,' how did Obama get elected?

6. By a massive grassroots campaign......and by a lackluster GOP candidate that not even THEY liked

They did their best to make this close, though.

In a fair media climate, Obama would've won by 15 points given the economic collapse of last year.

7. The Republicans knew they needed to lose
ANY Republican that followed Bush would have reignited the anti-war movement over the Afghan troop increase, not to mention what the citizen response to the Waah Street bailouts would have been.

9. I agree up to a point.
I think McCain was in many ways a throw away candidate, as was Bob Dole in the 90's. Some of it may have been a desire to rebuild the team so to speak and some of it may have been "we really don't have anyone else".

10. I think they lost on purpose
Seriously. They had it all planned out. Lose the election, stand together as a block of "No" votes, scream "Socialist" etc etc etc. It's working pretty well for them.
