PCIntern and Mrs. Intern went to a movie this afternoon...
saw "It's Complicated". "Y tu Mama Tambien" it wasn't, but that's not my issue today...

1. WTF is it with people that they need to CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP on popcorn with their mouths open whilst CHOMPING? That or they eat one piece delicately at a time for almost three hours, all the while making noise retrieving it from the bag and eating it such that, again, you can hear it all over the theater, which, BTW, is now the size of my powder room.

2. WTF is it with people who need to kick your seat? It's beyond obnoxious...and largely deliberate.

3. WTF is it that someone would drag their coat over your head when walking down the row behind? Lift up your coat and belongings.

4. Despite all the slides entreating the audience to STFU when the movie starts, do they? Yes, for the most part, except the ladies in front of me who had to finish not only the sentence, not only the paragraph, not only the chapter, but the rest of their personal equivalent of Gone With The Wind. Excruciating. What I might do to stop them is chomp on popcorn, kick their chairs, or drag my coat over their heads. Just kidding.

5. Nothing like watching a Coke Ad after I've paid 7 bucks (a BARGAIN!) for admission.

6. One more thing...how about those previews which show you the entire film? No need to see two of the movies previewed including Alice in Wonderland.

5. I hardly ever go to movies anymore, but matinees and "art house"
theater fare are, I think the way to go... Nearly empty, especially is you can go during the week...

You left out the constant pulling out the cell phones to twitter throughout the whole movie, breaking the relative darkness with the blue searing light of their lcd displays.

No wonder more and more people are opting just to wait for the dvd release...

11. Speaking of art house/indy flicks -
have you seen "Far North"? Michelle Yeo, Michelle Krusiec, Sean Bean.

Excellent film, directed by Asif Kapadia.

Only out on DVD in the US, unfortunately - the cinematography all by itself deserves the big screen.

As for theatre rudeness? I am frequently tempted to violent fantasies - especially the cell phones. "Off" means "off" - the display screen is just as annoying as if it rang.

16. I'd be interested in hearing what you think about it, once you've
watched it. (If you feel like sharing, that is - no pressure, of course!)

6. Last movie I saw in a theater was Cinderella Man
Trick to going to the movies is going to one that is playing opposite a blockbuster, lol. And going so rarely that when you do go, all that popcorn and talking stuff is part of the "ambience". lol.

Don't you live in/near a city?? Isn't there something better to go to than the movies?

9. Another personal responsibility issue: People throwing trash out the window of their car
When did it become OK to throw not only drink bottles, but trash of every kind out the window of the car littering the roadside for hundreds of miles.

We even have civic groups volunteer their time and efforts to 'clean up' the road for stretches of several miles each once a month --only to see their work defaced in only a few days.

When people have to pick up trash from the roadside instead of paying a fine, things might change.

10. Coke ads are annoying
I don't mind previews quite so much, though 90% of them simply confirm that I'll never want to see the movie being advertised anyway. The blasting sound design of them is pretty draining.

Most of my fellow theatergoers are often amazingly well behaved, though I also make a point of going when the theater is less busy anyway (matinée). I saw Avatar in a full theater a few weeks ago and, much to my surprise, there were hardly any distractions from the audience. Old ladies are ones I most often have problems with making noise, and that's not limited to movies; they seem to be chatter boxes at concerts as well.

15. Yeah I agree with your issues.
I saw Avatar in 3D last night. Some things I observed: the movie starts only after 15 minutes of ads starting from the "showtime", and parents take their really young kids cluelessly.
