A map of unemployment in America

The Washington Post has this good map today -- shows how high unemployment is generally concentrated in certain counties and regions. I think this is why the American people aren't in full-on revolt -- as bad as it is in some places, other regions are only suffering a little rather than a lot. That doesn't change anything, but might explain the general attitude of people today.

the unemployment rate in NE is 4.2%. In CA it's 12.2% Where I live in VT it's 7.9%- and that's the highest rate of unemployment in the state.

2. 14+ % in a big area of Alaska. No wonder SP quit.

3. Zoom in on Virginia. It is unique - deceptively light

Most of the counties have a separate city with separate stats.
Population density as well as unemployment is higher in the city.
If the county and city stats were combined, as in the rest of the states, more counties would be darker.

4. 12.9 % in Polk County, Florida.

People here are hurting.
