The vote was 220-215. Now, word is that Joseph Cao (R-Fluke One Termer) is out, and Bob Wexler's seat is vacant until mid-April. If Bart Stupak were to jump ship too (Nelson's abortion language is insufficiently restrictive for him), then that leaves us at 217.

But the way I see it, there might also be some available votes from Democrats who had voted no on the more liberal House bill, and are retiring this year. In other words, a yes vote would be a political freebie:

Bart Gordon (TN), John Tanner (TN) and Brain Baird (WA).

Then there is Eric Massa (NY) and Dennis Kucinich (OH) who voted against the House bill from the Left. With a reconciliation fix promise, and under the threat of no bill at all as an alternative, I could see either of these two men reconsidering.

2. Kucinich will never vote for that crap
Dennis is one of the few non sell out Dems we have. Kucinich hates this bill and, like most of the actual left, wants it killed. Kucinich hates corporate insurance and has gone on about how the mandate is the worst possible thing that could happen.

It's a shame Bernie Sanders couldn't see that.
