RNC Releases Partial List Of White House Officials With Partisan Email Accounts

Lawyers for the Republican National Committee sent a letter tonight to Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) with a list of 37 individuals “who we believe are or were White House employees using RNC accounts for whom we have been able to identify active e-mail data on operational RNC servers.”

The list — which includes senior officials like Karl Rove and Dan Bartlett as well as interns for the Office of Political Affairs — can be found below.

The White House has said that roughly 50 White House officials have had RNC accounts since 2001, and the letter suggests that more individuals with RNC accounts will be identified. “As the RNC is still in the early stages of its analysis, we expect that this list will require revisions at a later date.”

The White House’s use of these accounts appears to be extremely extensive. The letter states that the RNC “has gathered approximately 25,500,000 kilobytes of e-mail data from the 37 individuals listed above.” Moreover, this figure “will almost certainly increase” once forensic experts complete the “collection of active e-mail files off of hard drives and blackberries.”

The partial list of White House officials with RNC accounts is below the fold:

1. I don't trust them.....
Someone from Waxman's or Leahy's committee should be helping with the forensics.

2. OK, someone who is much more computer savy than please tell me
if the avg. email is about 1/2 a page of text, just how many emails would make up 25,500,000 GB?

Yes, I realize pictures canreally put the screws to the avg, but I doubt very much that there were a lot of pics in those emails.

Please, just take a guess!!!

3. How Cute of the RNC
No mention of how it's illegal for White House employees to use private servers and that they've, "gone to great lengths" and had an "extensive two hour briefing" and "acted in good faith" and responded to how the Committee had agreed "in principle".

I don't think Wax man going to buy this BS.

Abramoff connections other than Ralston? Anyone know why they had to leave to tend to family or whatever?

The formers constitute almost 1/2 of the 35. Is this significant?

7. 25.5 G of partisan Republican email... can you imagine trying to wade through that?
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 01:29 AM by 0rganism
Presuming they use the most annoyingly cumbersome formats and attachments possible and include prior conversations going back to 1999, we're still talking tens, hundreds of thousands... what a pain. Even with the investigations teams running some well-designed search filters, it'll be like spending a week in freeperville, 24/7.

And there's probably more to come, a lot more.
