"You Light Up My Life" composer faces 10 years in prison....
Not for writing the song, although that was reason enough.

====

NEW YORK — The Academy Award-winning songwriter of "You Light Up My Life" has a week to come up with a $3 million bond - or $1.5 million in cash - to stay out of jail in his New York sexual assault case.

A Manhattan judge increased Joseph Brooks's previous $250,000 bail Friday but gave him until Jan. 29 to post it.

His lawyer says he's unsure whether Brooks can produce the money.

The bail boost came after prosecutors upped the charges against Brooks, who's accused of forcing himself on 13 women. Prosecutors say the director and songwriter lured victims by inviting them to audition for movie roles.

5. Not enough time for writing that POS song
If that isn't the worst song of the past 50 years it'd damn close to it.

Diabetics should not listen to it.

11. He's 71 and
still hasn't developed a conscience?

I've long wondered if these old rapists are taking Viagra and if so...then the women should be able to sue the manufacturer in civil court.

After all the manufacturer is a person, right?

15. Good point.
And the manufacturer should also be charged in criminal court and serve time if found guilty, just like a real person would.

even thinks about this....

Welcome to DU.

ETA: maybe I should give this idea to the writers of "CSI: We aim to scare women and keep them locked inside their homes at nights...they must find men to 'protect' them."

Maybe they can go after the manufacturers and get some justice....

He caused us almost intolerable suffering during the '70s.

And now, sexual assault on 13 women.

Lock him up.

18. "It's not the eggs"
"It's the milk."

I might be the only person the world who actually saw that damned movie, which I'm afraid to admit, I kind of liked. But I have a good excuse. The film's star was Didi Conn and she freaking rocked the scene where her commercial director is giving her hell for not giving enough love to some line about some how some damned egg company's eggs make omelets fluffier. The dude is berating her and she finally shuts his ass up with:

"It's not the eggs that make an omelet fluffy. It's the milk."

Anyway, Joseph Brooks can go suck an egg.

23. He went to my high school and it was a real big deal when the song came out. In
fact, he was often invoked as a "success story".
