Bush speaking at graduation ceremony? Alums say, "NO!"
Letter from Miami Dade College Alumni to president of college: http://rejectbushmiami.com/letter.asp

To invite Mr. Bush to speak as a role model for the students of this great institution is a travesty. These students have worked diligently for their degrees and are at a critical crossroad in their lives. They should be uplifted, honored and encouraged to strive for the very best that they can achieve.

Instead, their special day will be tarnished by a president who enriches his friends in the oil and energy industries, a president who is oblivious to the death and suffering of tens of thousands of Iraqis, a president who refuses to properly honor the death and sacrifice of tens of thousands of loyal American soldiers.

This president is no leader. Mr. Bush is anathema to everything that we have learned from Dr. Padrón and to everything that Miami Dade College represents. He has no place in the celebration of our graduating students.

Because so many of us have been featured in the Miami Dade Alumni advertising campaign, we have become the collective face of the institution. Allowing Mr. Bush to participate in school activities suggests, therefore, that we endorse his presence. This is an unacceptable breach of the relationship the school entered into when it asked to include us in the campaign. Having used our likenesses, Miami Dade College now has a moral obligation not to put its featured alumni in such a personally painful position.

6. And students at BYU are holding an alternative graduation ceremony
that does NOT include Dead Eye Dick speaking. The seniors tried to get the administration to withdrawn the invite to Dead Eye to come speak at their graduation. The admin said no so the students have raised $25,000, rented a site, hired a speaker, etc. and are holding one that does not include corrupt reichwing neocon asswipes. BYU - for gosh sakes, if Dead Eye has lost BYU he doesn't even have a 9% approval rating.

1) You invite him to speak.

2) You present him with an Honorary Bachelors of Douchebaggery.

3) You then allow the rest of the speakers to spend the rest of the afternoon bashing him.

Have we learned NOTHING from Coretta Scott King's funeral?

Have we learned NOTHING from watching Stephen Colbert at The Correspondent's Dinner?

Have we learned NOTHING since fucking Marcus Antonius said to Brutus, "You go ahead and speak first."

Invite Stephen Colbert, David Cross, Mark Marin and Valerie Plame to speak right after Bush.

17. There is also the more traditional back turning en masse.
Or the everybody-gets-up-and-walks-out-as-soon-as-he-starts-to-speak, or, alternately, the stony silence.
