Steele Says Mass. Senate Win Result Of "Magic Elixir"

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says Scott Brown's U.S. Senate win Tuesday in Massachusetts could signal the start of a "Republican renaissance," as the party heads into the midterm elections.

The former Maryland lieutenant governor told WBAL's Maryland's Morning News that a "magic elixir" of factors led to Brown's victory.

Steele said national issues like health care, plus a strong candidate contributed to Brown's win.

He said Brown told voters that "he was prepared to be accountable for the decisions he would make in Washington."

We should expect more good-looking Republican candidates to run against less good-looking Democrats this fall. Good-looking is more appealing to most people than not-so-good looking. The "magic elixir" is: Run the campaign like its a Homecoming court. Am I being naive and simplistic? Yes, and so are many (many) voters.
