It is time for the Democrats in Congress to go back to their roots
In 2009 the Democratic party held a super majority in the Senate and a large majority in the House. Instead of aggressively pushing for real Health Care Reform they caved in time after time to the Conservatives in Congress. They didn't go after the bankers and the criminals on Wallstreet. They even ignored their base.
When Democrats act like Republicans, Republicans win. We wanted elected officials that would do what is right for the people. Not what is politically feasible. We wanted change, but all we got was the Democrats wasting time trying to get a Republican to vote for bills that they have stated they will not vote for no matter what. Trying to get Olympia Snowe to vote for HCR was a mistake. Giving in to Max Baucus, Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson and the other ConservaDems was also a bad move.
So we lost a Senate seat. I say so what. If the Democrats spend this year doing what the people want instead of caving in to the demands of the Conservatives they will more than likely pick up those seats that are considered toss ups. They need to get the Progressive base energized for the upcoming November mid-term elections. Or we could be facing more results like tonight.
Give the people what they want and the people will support you. To all my fellow DUers don't give up hope the fight just got harder, but if we come out on top we will be better for it. To the Democratic leadership this was a wake up call please don't wait until it is too late, nor shift further to the right.

1. That's what my son and I were saying
energize the base so we can pick up more of the senate seats. And bombard the damn senators and tell them to do what we want them to do...that's what they were elected to do. The House has 535 members a majority of democrats, but, they get more damn stuff done than the senators do, and in less time. I suppose the senators think they are better than the house, but I got news for you. I respect the House a hell of lot more than the Senate. They are a waste of time.

2. PS maybe the Senators should have a two year term and the HOuse a six
it would be a lot easier to get something done.
