How Do You Support?
Not "who" but "how".

As we enter a new year filled with mixed outlooks and mixed ideas of how to react to our political leaders, I think its important that we take a moment to look inside of ourselves instead of at each other on the concept of progressive politics.

My question is simple. How do you support progressive politics?

Do you support them like you support your favorite football team? If the progressives don't make it to the finals do you then support whatever the moderates or the centrists do?

Do you support them 'pragmatically'? Do you say, "Its too bad but I have to support this non-progressive policy so that later I can support your progressive one"?

Or do you support them like you would a friend who just lost his home? Do you stand by them unconditionally come what may, Damn the consequences?

I fall into the last group and hope that I always do. Where do you fall?

How do you support?

2. interesting question.
on a state level, it's easy. progressives win here- well, except for our soon to be ex-guv. So supporting them is quite easy and rewarding. When it comes to the presidential election, I am pragmatic. I voted for Obama and I'll likely vote for him in 2012.

If you fall into the latter group, did you vote for Obama?

3. I did. Donated and volunteered as well.
I am, however, questioning how far I will go next time.

5. Since I've come to terms with the fact that we really only have one political party in this country,
the corporate party, my choice would be not to support either faction of the party. However, when the repubs put up batshit crazy candidates like they do, then I will most likely vote for the lesser of two evils, once again, sending the message to the dems that it's ok if that keep moving to the right, cuz I will still vote for them. :eyes: :eyes:   :eyes: :eyes:

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

At this point in time, I don't know what I'll do. Voting for the lesser of two evils isn't working.

6. It depends on how you define 'support'.
I only work for candidates I believe to be progressive. I send money to liberal causes. I vote for the most liberal candidate left standing - even as I argue against the positions some of them take. I work to defeat DLC regressive Neolib imperialistic policies, particularly when such policies are promoted as being 'progressive'.

8. LOL! I just came back to this and noticed all the 'unrecs'.
I'm not sure what was in this thread to make people feel so strongly about clicking that unrecommend button (perhaps it was the name attached?) but I think its more important than ever to think about this after yesterday's election.
