Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 10:14 PM by cecilfirefox
May the people of Massachusetts vote correctly, for the best possible woman to do the job, and may the people of our country prosper for it- not go backwards.

One last thing to add before I go,

For Teddy.

43. Ok .......... but
All well and good, but you must actually CAMPAIGN to get elected.
I'm an old school/McGovern liberal and you can chant all you want, but one must 'press the flesh' to get elected.

50. Good wishes for Martha Coakley
Good wishes is right. But if she loses hopefully this will be a wake up call for Obama. Stop playing around with the republicans. Change the senate rules, get rid of the filibuster, and pass real healthcare reform.

52. I could never vote for this woman...
I am a lifelong Democrat.

As an openly gay man, I have learned the lesson that the Republican Party has been teaching gay Americans since I first became aware of the differences between the two parties. The lesson, plainly stated, is that I am not welcome in the Republican Party. This party is the party of bigotry and intolerance, and I want absolutely nothing to do with the Republican Party -- not now, not ever.

That said, there is no way that I could ever vote for Coakley.

This woman helped keep an innocent man, Gerald Amirault, locked up for an additional three years, long after it had become apparent to any sentient human being that Amirault was innocent of the grotesque charges filed against him and other members of his family.

There is much that I can stomach from a politician. Sadly, I have come to realize that an American politician is by definition a liar, a whore, a thief, a cheat, and a fraud. If he is not kissing babies on TV for the photo op, he is stealing their candy while nobody is looking. Sadly, to be a politician in America is to be a fraud artist and a liar; to have no moral conscience whatsoever; and to be utterly devoid of any sense of right versus wrong.

I accept all of this, because I am an adult and I have grown up to realize that this is simply the way things stand.

However, I have my limits.

Keeping an innocent man locked up on trumped up charges that were ludicrous on their face, so as to score law and order points, is too much for my stomach.

It is indeed sad that the Republicans have taken this seat.

But not even I have a spoon long enough to sup with Martha Coakley.
