If Scott Brown wins, then Holy Joe, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins sets Obama's agenda
Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 07:49 PM by jpak
for the next 3 years.

Assuming that the Democrats do not resort to the Nuclear Option, Democrats will have to suck up to them to pass any legislation.

No matter how progressive the House bill - all Senate bills will have to pass muster with Olympia and Sue and Holy Joe.

They are not moderates (no matter how they are spun by the MSM or themselves) - and we will not see any progressive legislation passed.

No finance reform, no jobs bill, no nothin' and Obama will fail.

yup!

4. How is that different from now?
The Republicans certainly didn't have any trouble enacting nearly their entire agenda when they had only 55 votes in the Senate. We already sold out just about everything we really wanted in HCR to secure Lieberman's sorry ass... what have we got to lose, really?

10. The man behind the curtain already has far more than 60 votes
Multinational, Inc. already owns the vast majority of them. The events of the past two years, with no difference in policy on the most important issues (war and finance), should prove that to anyone with their eyes on the ball.

15. Actually, no. If Dems lose the 60 seat supermajority, Lieberman loses a lot of power.
It's less than a silver lining, but this loss is bad for Joemental.

16. Not saying I want him to win but just exactly where is that progressive agenda?
that those you mention will be impeding?
Because I don't see it now with the majority we currently have.

19. No - now Snowe and/or Collins will work with Holy Joe in a substantive way
That's what will be new - and it will all suck worse.

Goody

After all, hasn't Holy Joe been pretty much setting the agenda for HCR in the Senate?

22. He has already let them set the agenda ....
for HCR. That is why we have the mess we are in now. That is also how the Coakly/Brown mess came to be, I believe. Most people want out from under right leaning politics. They are mad. They are not thinking and just want to push back. Electing Brown is not a good way to do that, but maybe they think it is the only way the administration will pay any attention to them. After all they have spoken up loudly to try and tell Congress and the White House what they want only to be ignored or told to be quiet. It is Newtonian. Every action produces an equal and opposite reaction. The base feels shafted and has had it.
