Want to help? No money to donate? Good vocabulary skills?
I just learned about this today on another political blog I read, it sounds like a great idea for those of us who have a desire to help and are too broke to pay attention.

Freerice dot com donates ten grains of rice for every vocabulary word you get right..

http://www.freerice.com/index.php

Oh, and you'll learn something in the process, my vocabulary is considerably better than average and I'm having to guess on about half the words that come up. If you get one wrong it will tell you the correct definition and then retest you a few words later.

And if you install the Freerice toolbar you can donate 2500 grains of rice for every five searches, I don't particularly like it because it's Yahoo search and I'm all but allergic to Yahoo, but it's for a good cause and so I may keep it..

Anyhoo, I thought some of you might like to have a way to help and learn at the same time, I know I feel really helpless in the face of this devastation, doing anything at all constructive is better than nothing.

1. My kids turned us on to that a long time ago. My wife gets on every three or four nights.
And on top of that, my youngest daughter made a FreeRice T-shirt (ink jet transfer). She wears it to school frequently.

6. it's not all vocabulary. I did world capitals for 400.
Some of them were strange. I have never heard of some of those countries, let alone capital cities.

7. They have all sorts of categories.
Math, Element Symbols, Paintings, Geography, Foreign Languages, and more.

I personally just did 3,000 grains. I bookmarked for later.
