Just spoke to someone who got through on the phone to Haiti
It's devastating. It's not just Port-au-Prince that is destroyed, but the beautiful town of Jacmel as well. I'm trying to find words and am speechless. There are people there I care about and they already have a very rough time of things. They were barely recovering from the crop damage from the last hurricane. I want to throw up, I think.

1. Link to one good group doing relief work there>>

It has a top rating w/ Charity Navigator and is active already in Haiti. http://www.actionagainsthunger.org/where-we-work/haiti

Obviously the people there are going to need other things in addition to medical supplies, and this is one of few reputable groups working on water, sanitation, and shelter needs in Haiti. They could make good use of your donations.

2. Thanks for posting those links
giving money slightly helps relieve feeling completely helpless to do anything.

Jacmel is one of the artistic and cultural centers of Haiti. It's profoundly sad to see whole cities destroyed like this.

3. I'm sure we all wish we could do more.
The tragedy and suffering are so profound it's hard to comprehend.

7. Just talked to my son's friend who has family missing.
No word of his aunts, uncle or cousins. M is coordinating medical supplies donations and doing what he can. I can imagine how I would feel if I thought people I loved were buried under buildings. This is awful.

We can't give much money now but will send what we can. I plan to donate blood in the next few days too.
I hope you get some hopeful news.

10. It is just too much. Anderson Cooper was just reporting that some people who
were sleeping in a park, 1000s of them, were beging to panic because they didn't feel safe. And some people were dropping what little possessions they do have. .....Now they are saying it was a rumour about a flood that scared people. They are calmer now too.
