KENNESAW, Ga. – A disgruntled ex-employee stormed a truck rental business in camouflage and opened fire with a handgun, killing two people and critically wounding three others at his former workplace, police said.

The lone gunman fled the scene in a pickup truck and was arrested after police stopped him about a mile from the Penske Truck Rental facility, said Cobb County Police Officer Joe Hernandez. The names of the suspect and victims were not immediately released.

"He wasn't here for very long and it wasn't long before he was taken into custody," Hernandez said.

There were conflicting reports about who the victims were. Penske spokesman Randy Ryerson said four victims were employees and the other was a customer, but police said none of the victims were customers. Hernandez said all of those shot were males.

UPS Facility Shooting Blamed On Workplace Feud

One man was in custody Sunday following a workplace double shooting in the parking lot of the UPS facility involving as many as three employees, authorities said.

A police spokesman said the incident began shortly after 9 a.m. when an employee opened fire on a fellow employee in the loading area of the UPS Customer Center Richmond Facility on Atlas Rd. However, the exact details of the shooting remained a little confusing and under investigation since the alleged gunman was also found wounded in a nearby backyard.

Police believe there may be a third employee involved who may have shot the gunman or who hid the gun he used. They had recovered one handgun and officers with K-9 units have been out looking for the other handgun.

Several people witnessed the shooting and were being interviewed by police.

“We do not know exactly what occurred yet. We do believe they are both employees of UPS so there may have been some kind of feud in the week prior,” Sgt. Bisa French, Richmond Police public information officer. “We're trying to investigate that to see what kind of feud there was and why this occurred.”

According to the UPS Web site, the facility is what's known as a UPS customer center, where customers can come for last-minute shipping needs. But police say the shooting happened in the rear of the facility where the trucks load and unload.

Police said the victim was shot in the face and upper body and while he was in critical condition -- both he and the man accused of shooting him who was also shot are both expected to survive.
