A story on training military corps in Afghanistan was changed at NYT
Yesterday a story appeared in the NYT. I linked to it in an OP. Here is the link:

Slow Start for Military Corps in Afghanistan
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/06/world/06mullen.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

I wanted to refer back to an interesting line about the nature of these corps. Yesterday, it mentioned that they were essentially 'Special Operations' forces that were being trained, and that they are this program is the priority. Today, that line is missing, and some paragraphs have been changed. You can see that when you go to my OP here of DU, where I pasted the first four paragraphs:

Program to Build Afghanistan Corps Is Said to Be Lagging
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7401817

The headline was changed, which is not all that uncommon, but information was removed.

Does anyone know how to find the original article? Is there a way to find it with a cache search of some kind?

TIA.

1. When the old information was posted, you could have saved the HTML of the page.
I don't know the technical jargon, but you could have simply, "SAVED" that web page.

2. I didn't, though.
I just grabbed the URL and brought it here. I almost copied the part I am looking for, but didn't.

4. Yes, it is thank you.
Here is what I was looking for, and what was removed:

But General McChrystal said through a spokesman that the effort has been “understaffed” and that he has also asked the branches of the military for their top performers. “We have to be willing to break traditional career models, we’ve literally got to break systems to do this,” General McChrystal said. “I am looking for a very small number of our very best and brightest to assume the most critical positions in the effort,” the general added. “They will provide the expertise, the continuity, and the momentum. They will cement the strategic partnerships that will see us to success.” That kind of commitment to one theater of combat is unknown in the military today outside Special Operations, but reflects an approach being imported by General McChrystal, who spent five years in charge of secret commando teams in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Thanks again.
