FLASHBACK: Limbaugh mocks death of 22-year-old environmental activist Beth O'Brien
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 06:36 AM by Adenoid_Hynkel
Limbaugh, on April 13, 2002, having a laugh when she fell to her death during a tree-sit.

His comments on-air, and posted proudly on his Web site:

"If a Wacko Falls Out of a Tree—Some tree sitters on the left coast were just days away from ending a three-year perch when one of them slipped and fell. Can you believe the trees around her just stood and watched? They could've at least reached out and saved her, right? . . . So it looks like we've had our first tree suicide bomber, or suicide dropper, as the case may be."

you can also find it in David Brock's book, "The Rightwing Noise Machine"

background on O'Brien:

Unlike his side, i won't cheer on his misfortunes or wish for them to be compounded, but, at the same time, I have no sympathy, compassion or prayers for this prick.

1. More from the guy who wants your prayers
"Similarly, when anti-logging activist Judi Bari died of breast cancer in 1997, leaving behind two young daughters, Limbaugh could not contain his glee. The next day, as soon as he finished his opening minute of crowing about himself (did Einstein start each workday like this?), the gloating began.

Accompanied by the sound of a loud buzz saw, Limbaugh's joke was that Ms. Bari, like the trees she tried to protect, "has finally been cut down to size! . . . she'll never be able to bark up the wrong tree again!" and so on, thanks to the cancer. Limbaugh has had similar fun wisecracking about the untimely deaths of John Kennedy, Jr., Princess Diana, and Vincent Foster.

In a memorable live performance in Sacramento, Limbaugh evoked laughter from his fans with a smirking "eulogy" for homeless advocate Mitch Snyder shortly after Snyder's suicide, joking that "Mitch assumed room temperature recently" and "Mitch has finally earned a home."

2. He is an Evil Fucking Draft Dodger & Chicken Hawk
Who had a boil on his ass---

with a little help from his physician

Thus making him 4-F

Or like his buddy Beck who was once referred to as

“It’s like someone found a manic, doom-prophesying hobo in a sandwich board, shaved him, shot him full of Zoloft and gave him a show.”

3. those people he mocked had good deaths,
they did their best to leave the planet a better place.

In contrast to Rush, Beck, Lieberman, who are the equivalent of self-generating garbage dumps.

5. I hope he dies a horrible, painful death
Fuck that lying chickenhawk. I hope the pain is real bad & they can't give your junkie ass painkillers. You son of a bitch. I will cheer on his death. I know too many good people who GAVE their life for our country, not an asshole who made his life by lying about the problems in our land. The most specious lines of thinking I have heard spoken by an American. I guess an American, I have not seen his birth certificate. Rot in hell.

8. Wow. Disgusting.
No compassion here either, and I'm the most compassionate person I know. That said, hoping for his family and all those that care about him, he recovers.

9. "Just another dead doper. And a dirtbag."
This is what Limbaugh had to say about Jerry Garcia's death within minutes of finding out.

He accused Michael J Fox of faking his Parkinsons.

There are literally dozens of disgusting comments made by Limbuagh over the years about sick or dying people.

21. “Kurt Cobain was, ladies and gentlemen, a worthless shred of human debris.”
Said on Rush's first show back following the discovery of Cobain's body.
Rush projects a bit much, me thinks.

11. I'm afraid I will be gladdened by his passing.
It may not be very polite of me, but I believe the world will be a better place with him gone. And a better world is a thing to celebrate.

There are differences in lives. Those who die trying to save the world are better and worth more than those trying to ruin the world and get rich while doing so. He is evil and cowardly and a dark spot on the earth.

19. Ameliorate my own post
My glee will be abstract. Just can't find it in me to celebrate a death. I can celebrate the things that death might bring about.

Really hate the fat bastard. Really think he shouldn't be here. Really think the world will be better when he is gone. Just can't celebrate the end of a life though. Can celebrate his not being on air.

13. I'm almost certain he mocked the death of Rachel Corrie as well, back in 2003.
