Lindsey Graham: "death blow to forces of moderation"

Setting an end date to the war before it's won "would be a death blow to forces of moderation throughout the Middle East," said Sen. Lindsey Graham (news, bio, voting record), R-S.C.

It's moderate to say that contractors and coalition troops should ride around Iraq, free to shoot at any cars within 100 meters on the theory that the cars could be bombs.

It's moderate to say that US troops should do surprise roadside inspections, in which they shoot at any car which doesn't stop in response to being waved at or having a light shined at it.

(sarcasm)

1. It still grates my nerves that Lindsey Graham is sitting in Ernest Hollings' seat.
That just isn't right.

2. my favorite quote of his ever from his last press conference---

5. Yes. More schools and hospitals and fewer prisons would be a good
hinge for a foreign policy.

It's too bad Dubya is in the Whie House. He's more in the bomb-and-abandon mode.

3. "won"
lawmakers who prop up Bush's lies by claiming that Iraq can be "won" should be jailed

4. Starting the war was the death blow. Why are we still...
... listening to the people who got us into this mess? They should be on their knees begging to be caned, not strutting around with more advice.

Every time one of these idiots talks about how bringing the war to a close would cause a catastrophe, they should be asked, "Aren't you one of the Bush lackeys who got us into this mess in the first place, genius?"

6. It's NOT a fucking 'war' - it's combat against the resistance to an occupation!

That meme is insidious. Viet Nam, otoh, was both a ("limited"!?!) war and combat against a long-entrenched political resistance.
