would've taken down many, many suppliers. Ford, as well as foreign companies, would have been hurt since they wouldn't have been able to get parts for their vehicles. We would be sinking into a deep depression if GM and Chrysler not been saved.

Likely GM would have been forced to restructure and become more efficient, rather than collapsed outright.

In case you weren't aware, those notes are now what are known as "continuously callable" with 30 days notice. They became so on October 11, 2006.

Even though their credit rating has been trashed, they're still good notes. If you've owned them since '05, you've made about two bucks more in interest than the loss of principal at the current price. ($1.84/yr times 4 years = $7.36 per share in interest up to last March) They're still a fairly long bond, however, maturing in October of 2031

That's unlikely given those notes are rated Caa1/CCC+ by Moodys/S&P. Either way, it would probably have to trade at that $25.00 par level or above before they would call them in.

Yahoo Financial shows a low of $4.26 the week of Nov. 17, 2008, but it was a rather sharp spike down and then back up.

My husband and his family have and their foreign jobbies are always in the shop, while one of my Mustangs went 10 years without the need for breaks and 12 years before any trip to the shop outside of maintenance (and that was only to replace a sensor).
