True Americana at its' zenith
Although more than 100 Iraqi civilians were killed in a series of car bombs Wednesday, our American MSM was entirely focused on the campus of Virginia Tech, where a lone gunman killed 33 students. This complete obsession with VT was a convenient distraction from the War in Iraq, for which they were complicit in heralding its' start and defending its' virtues even now. You see, Iraqis are not as human as we Americans are. We hold the lives of foreigners are cheap and expendable. Only a mere 235 of them have died in violence since Sunday. MSNBC has just chosen a real Arab-hater in Smerconish to replace Don Imus. This was no accident. Smerconish will defend gun rights and the Bush Crime Family to the nth degree as expected. All the major networks have a war to defend.

Here is the real gift of American bravado that gets right to the heart of our culture. My Grandma has 2 cased pistols, loaded and ready to fire. She has severe dementia and has been moved to 2 different retirement homes as well as trial periods with my parents and an aunt, where her disposition (almost mean since dementia set in) has proven untenable. Each time she is moved, she insists that her pistols belong to her and nobody is going to take them from her if they value their life. Though no retirement facility would allow a resident to have a firearm if they knew about it, Grandma not only has her guns, but her paranoia leads her to believe that the staff has been stealing from her. This would be scary, if it were not so much an ingrained identification of our American culture. Although the VT massacre saddened all of us, it was not at all shocking or should not have been. There were 2 workplace shootings in the past week, as well. Guns and roses are us. We allow the guns and buy roses for the victims. As for Iraq, there is no need for roses. Iraqis aren't human as we are. As a matter of fact, even our soldiers don't warrant having their flag-draped remains seen as they are returned to McGuire. It sounds absurd, when you think about it. It isn't if we Americans haven't been hardened by our violent culture. Nursing home shootouts will become the next rave.
