A feature better than the rec/unrec
I just discovered the hide thread feature. I have not used it before but to those articles I don't like, instead of unreccing them, I'm now hiding them and I don't have to worry about seeing that thread every time I log in. What a nice feature the admins programmed into the site.

1. i do like the hide feature.
but i also like rec and unrec. i find DU has a lot of features absent on almost every other message board i've frequented. the site is better because of those features.

3. "Hide" is simply another feature and not necessarily a better feature than Rec/UnRec.
UnRec does serve a purpose and is to allow members to express displeasure with an OP or what it says.
A thread which states "Obama sucks" or "Dennis Kucinich sucks" would likely and justly receive UnRecs from many DUers who can simply UnRec the thread without responding and kicking a thread like that.

Ultimately, to UnRec a thread really has nothing to do with hiding it. In fact, you could UnRec a thread and then hide it.

4. I often use them together. First Unrecommend, then Hide Thread.
First, warn others, then hide it from sight so it no longer clutters my screen.
