Sen. Lincoln put up an amendment to stop the exclusion of executive compensation from being included as part of earnings for the purpose of formulae about % of earinings that have to be spent on actual coverage. The voting was going along straight party lines. Lieberman threw in w/ the Republicans.

Do you think there is any reason to consider him as caucusing w/ Dems, and keeping his committee chairmanships?

While negotiations continued behind the scenes, the Senate rejected a Lincoln-sponsored amendment to limit the tax deductions insurance companies take for what they pay their top executives. The vote was 56-42 on a measure that needed 60 votes.

As ususal, the MSM doesn't explain that the only reason the measure couldn't pass w/ 51 votes was b/c the Republicans have no compunctions about filibustering every single measure they disagree with. In the past, when it was Democrats who occasionally threatened a filibuster they were described as "delaying" or "blocking" legislation each time.

Sorry I seem to have misunderstood what the exclusion of the executive compensation was for. Anyhow it's outrageous that it failed.

There's a lot of interesting info in the article so I'm going to post it in LBN.

7. If health care fails because of him his chairmanships MUST go away..
I understand the need to bribe that _____ with anything he will take as payment, but if he doesn't put out then you need to take your payment back.
