When's the last time you saw a "Fiscally-Conservative" Republican?
It always irks me when Republicans claim they're worried about "Big Government Spending," deficits, and the national debt. Tweety was interviewing Bob Corker last night and kept agreeing with the GOP line that we have to rein in spending on healthcare legislation. He repeated the common fiction that Democrats are all about spending, and Republicans are all about saving.

It is CRAP!! How long before this stupid myth is retired??

Look at what's happened to the national debt under Republicans!! Reagan and Bush I, it skyrocketed. Clinton, it slowed and actually started to lower. Bush II, skyrocketed again. These people are NOT "fiscally-conservative!" Since I've been old enough to vote, I haven't seen a fiscally-conservative Republican. How do they manage to keep up this lie?! Why do people still buy it?!?

3. Dunno. Probably before the Cold War, but that was before my time.
Once World War II showed contractors what profits could made on supplying the military, they were off to the races...and the Republicans and conservative Democrats were with them, neck-and-neck. The Treasury's been a sieve for them ever since.

4. Today's repukes are selectively "fiscally conservative"
They're willing to spend taxpayer dollars like drunken sailors to put the country in debt to Commies in China to fight wars for profit, but they're not so willing to invest taxpayer money to keep people alive (health care reform). IOW, conservos like to spend money to kill people instead of healing them.

6.  trickle down philosophy is a big part of fiscal cons
and all repubs and a lot of dems believe in that sick shit.
So they rationalize the spending aspect by giving money to the rich.
