Tim Geithner Must Go

.......He is corrupt...The stimulus went to his old buddies....it is not working....the billions should have gone to consumers to pay debt down..........and yes I agree with another thread...GROWTH IS NOT TAKING PLACE.

1. He is either corrupt or completely incompetent.
I believe corrupt is the right answer.

2. The President picked him
Guess you can blame the vetting process...either that or he speaks for the President.

5. And what about Rahm and Summers and Salazar and Vilsack and LaHood?
I think an earlier vetting process may have failed us...

20. I think he was picked for the president
other than that I can only think of one reason Obama would have chosen him, and I won't go into that.

35. Yes. Geithner's tax problems should have been a major tip-off.
But they weren't.

mischief on public education; in fact, it is deteriorating right before our very eyes.

38. He was the canary in the coal mine for me.
I knew we were in trouble when Obama picked him. Then we had Obama saying that we needed to renegotiate NAFTA, and Goolsbee, according to some sources, telling the Canadians that it was a campaign promise that meant nothing. Goolsbee appears to have been correct, despite the campaign's claims to the contrary at the time.

Obama did not get my vote in the primary because of his economic team and their policies.

and he has proven it completely.

Obama must ask him for his resignation so he can spend time with his buddies on Wall Street, I am sure someone has a nice cushy job waiting for him.

33. You don't seem to understand
Geither is not my guy, he's not your guy, but he is Obama's guy, as hard as that is for many in here to wrap their arms around. As long as were talking about Geithner, whether he goes or stays, there remains the fact, that unless the turn of the century anti-trust reforms are at least updated, replacing personnel isn't going to matter much. "systemic change" is what's needed versus personnel shuffling, second is actual campaign finance reform without follow on legislation that guts it, and then personnel would be of importance. Audit the fed?

42. Good analysis of the situation. I agree too. "Systemic change" is required to
fix any of this. Otherwise, it's just treading water and we're slowly drowning.

37. Lets consider something
Is it possible a huge bureaucracy is not cut out to ensure the money goes where it is needed? I applaud the effort, but the banks aren't even loaning to small business. Buying up all these mortgage securities was supposed to be the big fix. Growth can start from the bottom up, but not the top down. Look how much money we've poured into Africa as an example. They are more dependent than they were in the 1960's. Repatriation is the only thing that is working half way in LDC's, micro loans, a third of the way. Pouring money at problems won't fix them, specifically targeting money might.
