Do you get forwarded junk emails from friends and/or co-workers?
Everything this co-worker sends me (mostly right wing garbage) I check with "snopes.com" and it's always some debunked, false BS....

What is wrong with people who insist on sending this crap even after you tell them about snopes.com?

1. Reply all with the snopes link.
That will correct the lie, and might just embarrass the winger enough that he stops.

13. Yes, do reply to all with the Snopes debunking. But be aware that
it won't enlighten most wingers -- emotions, not facts, drive what they believe -- but it will get you off the stupid mailing list.

3. Mostly non-political religious BS.
You know, shit like, "God is always with you...send this to _ amount of people and let Him touch them as well".

4. It's worse than you imagine.
I got an email the other week from my nutcase cousin that was going on about how snopes is liberal propaganda. Nothing will stop these people from thinking the way they do.

6. I get them from several close frioends and relatives. When
I fine it debunked on snopes I reply to all with the info. Of course those emails are never only sent to YOU, there;s always a long list of addresses to whom it was sent. I've actually gotten some positive feedback from some of the people I didn't even know who said thanks for the enlightening info.

7. Rarely
Moistly because I do get one I tend to send scathing responses out to everyone on the list.

One friend actually had the nerve to ask me not to reply to them after forwarding some fundy crap to me cause his other fundy friends got pissed at my response. I of course ignored him and that source of fundy nuttyness suddenly went away.

Now all i get from him are dumb ass boob jokes.

9. I used to when my dept. had a fundie secretary.
Instead of forwarding the emails she'd print them out and try to get everyone to read 'em. They were all opinion pieces, naturally with a rwing slant. But she talked as if there was factual information there. But by printing the emails it made it more difficult to send her little friends return emails. Neat little trick they taught her in fundie school.

10. when people first get email they forward everything - I just delete and don't read
at one time, I would tell people to filter it - but they would get offended - now if it is someone you don't care to talk to anymore - go ahead and offend them - delete works good - just like ignore works here - yea it is a lot of trash but reading it just would increase my anxiety and need to make them see how wrong they are - I now believe you can not convince them. I have people who are A students in graduate school who believe this crap - so they are book learned but have no common sense - they do not realize how stupid they look - to their friends and buddies they think they are smart - go figure
