Teen says he drowned 4-year-old to protect secret, police say (teen molested 4-year old boy)
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/11/04/california.boy.slaying/index.html

CNN) -- A 14-year-old California boy told police he drowned his 4-year-old neighbor on Friday because the child had threatened to tell his mother the older boy had molested him, according to an affidavit made public Wednesday.

Raul Renato Castro has been charged in Fresno County as an adult, with special circumstances including murder during a child molestation, sodomy, kidnapping and murder of a witness to prevent testimony, according to the district attorney's office.

He faces separate felony charges of kidnapping, sodomy and child molestation.

The affidavit, filed by the Fresno County Sheriff's Department, says Castro told investigators he lured the victim, Alex Christopher Mercato, into his apartment "by telling the victim he had something to show him."

1. I feel sorry for both the kids
More so for the little one, of course, but the killer is also worthy of compassion. As far as I know, the perpetrator does such a thing only with his own history of abuse. This is a sad, sad story that I'm afraid will just get worse as more facts are revealed.

2. Yes, exactly...
...that 14-year old was most likely acting-out his own sexual abuse. Very, very sad for both children.

I think the 4 year old was an incredibly brave and courageous little angel. Most children never tell and
they're too traumatized to even speak about what happened. Many times, they don't even have words for what
has happened to them! However, he mustered the courage to let the 14-year old perpetrator know that he was
going to tell.

That is truly amazing for a 4-year old--and I am so sad that he is gone.

:(

4. Same with the serial rapist/killer in Cincinnati?
Surely nobody ever rapes and murders, especially SERIALLY, without having suffered major trauma of their own. Nah - I'm not buying any apologia for this little monster of that big one. Sometimes a monster is just a monster, and needs to be sent away to a special place for monsters where they can't practice their monsterism against others. The killer may be worthy of compassion, but IMO he's far more worthy of life in prison without a chance of parole.

5. He's 14
FOURTEEN years old. And your comparison lacks correlation.

And I have not seen anyone, much less myself, apologizing for the murderer. I just noted my own compassion for both the kids in this one particular case. I'm sorry to see you have none.

lol... you brought it up first! I see what you mean, though. I'm not excusing the killing. He needs to be punished, but I still have compassion for him nonetheless.

10. Oh my God. What did that FUCKING accomplish?
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 03:57 PM by HughBeaumont
Humanity sickens me to no END anymore. Why do I want a stake in this thing? Why do I want skin in the game? For this ridiculous belief that people are GOOD? PLEASE.

Policy is enacted to ensure corporations stomp a boot to the face of millions in the name of profiteering and a dying economic sham. Thousands of people are getting fired daily because rich people aren't rich enough. We continue to blow up the middle east . . . well, because rich people aren't rich enough, there really IS no other reason. 1/10th of the population is being made by a bunch of hate-filled whackjobs that cling to a 2000 year old novel to feel inferior and shamed into believing there's something wrong with them. Kids kill, rape and maim other kids without a stitch of remorse or feeling. Bullying - still continues in ALL age groups.

I'm not even getting into Health Care and Education, both of which have turned into comedy acts where the joke is on us. Forever.

But hey, it's nice to know daily with every shit story . .. "HEY, another innocent and gentle person gets sodomized/burned/gutted/beheaded/gang fucked/shot dead/buried alive for really no apparent reason other than people are fucked up! Now here's Megan with the weather . . " It just reaffirms my position that life is about as fair as Josef Stalin was compassionate. Fuck it. What's the point? "Keep trying to make life better, and that's all you CAN do"? PFFFFFFFFT.
