Poll: Fox News Is Conservative!
In a shocking poll result, a new Pew survey finds that Fox News is viewed as being the most ideologically oriented of the big three cable news channels.

Fox is viewed as being conservative by 47% of Americans, as liberal by 14% (Who are these people???), and as being neither by 24%. CNN is viewed as conservative by 11%, liberal by 37%, and neither by 33%. MSNBC is seen as conservative by 11% (Again: Who are these people???), liberal by 36%, and neither by 27%.

The poll also finds that the view of Fox as being conservative is shared across groups of people who watch different networks. However, people who watch Fox are more likely to view the other networks as being liberal.

2. aren't the Faux defenders the ones who say that MSNBC is so liberal
because of their abundance of "liberal hosts" (3 who each have 1 hour shows, but Joe Scumborough has 3 whole hours to himself) and condemn the entire channel for that, but ignore the Repug-slants in the "news" portions of Faux's day to claim that Faux is "fair and balanced"?

3. Count Me As Someone Who VIews MSRNC As Conservative
For the simple fact of what they did to Phil Donahue right before the Eye-Rack war, they are gonna have to do a lot more than three outspoken liberal hosts to make up for that.

6. I'm with you. Tossing us a couple of bones during prime time doesn't make 'em Liberal.
At the heart of the matter, and that which will never change, is the fact that MSNBC is owned and operated by GE, a giant, powerful player in both the defense and insurance industries. They have the weakest ratings of all The Cables, they're not even carried in many/most markets -- they diversify their content in an attempt to draw in a few more viewers...they don't really care where they get them. But they are and always will be beholden to the corporate board and the quarterly balance sheets for GE's defense and insurance businesses.

9. A couple of bones?
6:00 pm Ed Schultz
7:00 pm Chris Matthews
8:00 pm Keith Olbermann
9:00 pm Rachel Maddow
10:00 pm Keith Olbermann (R)
11:00 pm Chris Matthews (R)

Even if you don't think the Chris Matthews is the most liberal guy in the world, you'd have to be an idiot to think that he's anything but FAR to the left of just about anybody on Fox News. MSNBC is giving us six hours of center- to center-left talk every weekday.

Not to put too fina a point on it, but these are the poeople who put Rachel Maddow on television. In my book, that makes up for their canning Phil Donohue (which I agree was NOT cool).

12. Morning Joe is the only non-liberal show/host on MSNBC
I'm not sure why the poster thinks otherwise. Kind of strange.

13. And even that show attempts to be balanced...
Scarborough often makes me want to hurl, but at least they have some decent sparring partners on the show. I respect him for that, at least. Or at most. Or whatever.

4. Duh!!!
Only 47%? It would seem that the majority of Americans don't really understand what the term, "conservative", really means.

8. Where do the people come from who think FOX is liberal?
Edited on Fri Oct-30-09 08:21 AM by bulloney
It's scary enough to think there are people out there who are so ignorant that they think FOX is objective, let alone liberal.

This whole notion about the news media being a bastion of liberalism is ridiculous. Conservatives have he luxury of hearing RW talk radio all day from the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, et al. Their spin on the news becomes their listeners' baseline for news objectivity. So, if these same people watch the evening news and they hear any balance in the story, they immediately paint the broad stroke across the entire industry as "liberal."

If the MSM gerbils were so liberal, there would have been more scrutiny in the outcome of the 2000 and '04 presidential elections. There would have been more research and information against invading Iraq. Cheney and his daughter would be discredited as the corrupt buffoons that they are. People like Beck and Kristol wouldn't have a forum to regularly spew their nonsense, and so on.

10. MSNBC is seen as conservative by 11% (Again: Who are these people???)
They might be watching Morning Joe or, perhaps, Mrs. Alan Greenspan.

16. "We watch that Republican channel" a comment from a person I met
on vacation in 2000.

My response was, "Um, Fox?"

"Yeah! That's it!"

I glanced at my wife with the 'oy' look.
