The union that has been bare-knuckle battling Smithfield Foods plans to show up at a Paula Deen book-signing to pressure her to end her partnership with the company.

Workers from Smithfield's plant in Tar Heel, N.C., plan to ask Deen to end her partnership with Smithfield because of working conditions at the plant. They say they will give her a letter Wednesday in Washington, D.C., at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

I don't eat pork at all for health reasons, but I'll be certain to watch Smithfield on this.

I'd like to see more of this tactic used when appropriate, too. Good for the UFCW.

3. I was wondering when this would happen

I saw a billboard with Paula Dean for Smithfield packing and cringed a bit. I wondered how much she knew about them not necessarily the political side (take a guess) but the enviromental side the huge hog farms and horrid safety and sanitation records.
