What are you sick and tired of? The grim reaper reality we are all waking up to with open eyes and perked ears, or the fact that we are waking up, one-by-one, step-by-step? Well, that does not matter as much as the Gestalt and the experience that not only portrays a gradual, but growing, transformation, but a sobering understanding that, no matter how the media portrays it, one in a hundred of us is reaping the good life beyond our imagination, while the rest face endlessly increasing prices, stagnant wages, more workload due to the downsizing and belt trimming to profit the profit takers, etc.
Oh sure, I can agree with you. This is are time. It may be the only time we ever have. It may be the best of times and the worst of times combined. However, more and more people here, and across the globe are seeing the bait and switch that is taking the expectations we were indoctrinated and duped into accepting to a point where we can more clearly see, (if we can take our heads out of the sand and our proverbial asses) that dystopia is most certainly on the way for the majority of us and Utopia is clearly a word that will be eliminated from future Newspeak dictionaries because even the idea, (it meaning literally, NO PLACE) is anathema to the Serfdom, servitude, and 3rd-World slavery a larger proportion of us are facing.
Those of us who watch, see, know, inquire, compare, and resist, (and I intend no oneupmanship or specialness in that remark) would truly rather not see and know and calculate the formula and its inevitable outcome. Ignorance, (which means both to be unaware of and to ignore) is bliss in this case, and it is YOUR life to live right now the best way you possibly can.
However, we have had, over and over again, the KICK in our COMPLACENCY that we both require and quest for, i.e., if any for of equity, freedom, or justice is of essential import to our personal nature and views. It is, overall, a question of balance within the dynamics of each our our own, personal existences. It is also a matter of relationship, regardless of what degree we decide to ignore or inquire into what is taking place in the body politic at large.
I had a dream once, but found out that it was merely something inculcated into my mindset during a specific, historic period. The dream was that high-technology, (I distinguish it here from my understanding that anything that our species does above and beyond our organism nature and behavior is a form of technology) would lead, practically and pragmatically, to a World of greater potential, leisure, expression, fulfillment, and choice for vast numbers of people on this orbiting biosphere. Well, am I cynical for noting that quite the opposite seems to be happening in the bigger picture? Despite the minor, money making, "you didn't need this until we told you you could not live with out it" conveniences and some improvements in living conditions, the high-tech of today is being used as yet another tool to repress, control, and manipulate larger numbers of people. What is there to be upbeat about if you look at that sphere of our collective experience here?
Of the few ideals I have left, I see a fork in the road where it could have gone one way or the other. I don't see where we are at now as an inevitability, even though that contradicts my rather Zen awareness that the Universe is always unfolding exactly as it should. And the big and pregnant quesiton is, and this is the subject of much bias and rhetoric spewed by every side from Sunday, why did it ake the route of Fascism and why does it reed with nothing but elite manipulation and shift the poles of Global expectations to mass servitude, conflict, death, and mass interment and slavery in the end? Why is America, (the brute force, funding, and think tank for the World's ultimate dilemma) turning out to be, (if look carefully and listen to the people now being effected, though bell tolls for thee) and impending model for technological, panopticon, inescapable, collective-like control? How can we be moving, slowly, gradually, but without any doubt, towards a harsher, crueler, more tyrannical form of day-to-day life than any repressive, suppressive, subsumed culture to date?
I think that almost anybody, if they wanted to, could see the kind of trade-offs we are making in return for our rather loud, but extremely captivating and entertaining, siren call into deeper and deeper sleep. Yes, I say that waking life is becoming more and more like sleep than conscious, direct awareness and reaction. While the age of information has been a boon to those who are apt to absorb, devour, process, and then respond to it, the masses are purposely being kept far to preoccupied with matters that are intended to be diversions from what might be important and of the utmost of vital in relation to personal and community interests. We can here and now forget the power of the masses because "their" manipulation is a cut-and-dried affair. They are mostly plugged-into the media and the culture that ensues from it. That is like reading propaganda leaflets in a war and surrendering to the enemy because what they are saying makes perfect sense and offers the gift of survival and safety -- what every living creature ultimately craves and wants, despite the various, verbal insertions into that undeniable fact and process of being.
If you don't want to rain on the parade of accomplishments and benefits of the expansively growing wealthy, (about one in one hundred of us by most standards) that the efforts of the striving, enduring, exploited, starving, entertained, hoping, dreaming, believing, brain-washed, acculturate, molded, designer-human, fit-in-the-mold, "do as I say, not as I do!". patriotic, religious, because so-and-so said or did or commanded that it is thus, then you can rejoice and commend the wonderful state of events that are the tapestry of your life and the life that your children and their children will inherit. And that inheritance is the wind, in my estimation. Is the wind of value to your current position as an ancestor to what is to come because you have been both bought and sold in the end game?
I am not religious, nor do I believe in anything -- even my own existence -- but is it not wise to guote wise sayings? "What does it profit a man, (modern insertion: "or woman") to gain the entire World, but lose his/her immortal soul?" Well, you are seeing that in action and complaining about your compliance every step of the way unto your ultimate and complete control and the certain demise of anything and everything you have been duped into believing along the way. You children, and their childrend, will live in the results of the comfort you naturally sought to preserve, even though it managed to vary and sway so very far from your nature as a being.
Now, is that not a good reason to hold strongly, even religiously, to doubt, cynicism, and total skepticism, (unlike anything that bogus, Amazing Randy has ever offered for sell aggrandizement?) We are going to have to face a kind of flushing of everything we thought was good, true, proper, correct, and certain, before we can understand how those, (and many other) ideas have been used by people who are masters of the mind and know how it only leads to oneupmanship, be it of the mind, the heart, or the soul. Any word or idea is an abstraction of whatever realty may be. Once they take our young minds and put us in schools and expose us to religions, (when we are not clearly able to make any responsible discernments about what is being foisted upon our new selves) we are then intiated to a game that relies on many insidious games that rulers, shakers, leaders, dominators, and tyrants have played all through history.
Are we all going to be nothing more than heavily entertained, manipulated, and ultimately sedated or imprisoned pawns in this larger game? Or are we going to find what it is in us that stands above and triumphs the very pinions and cornerstones of the Grand Illusion?
In that tome is a strong form of realization and a very real, even transcendental, optimism. You only have to open your eyes to see it. You only have to listen with your ears to hear it. You only have to open your mouth to speak it.
