"Walker budget would cut back service to disabled transit riders
By Larry Sandler of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Oct. 18, 2009

A cut in state funding could lead to large areas of Milwaukee County becoming inaccessible to disabled transit riders, under a provision in County Executive Scott Walker's 2010 budget.

In reaction to a projected $2 million cut in state aid for the Transit Plus system of vans for the disabled, the proposed budget reduces paratransit service to the federally required minimum level. . . .

"For a lot of Transit Plus users, Transit Plus is their only transportation option," Misko said. "Lots of clinics, nursing homes and group homes in those areas would lose service."

Also, some riders who live in those areas would be unable to move into the newly reduced service area because they couldn't get out of their leases, Misko said. . . "

Yup, a prick of the highest/lowest order. If he wins next year, we're screwed.

1. Jesus. I had no idea it was so expensive. But I don't see why they would cut "areas" .
I thought it was $9 per trip like Medicaid hospital trips for ambulatory people.

2. Walker in an effort to never raise taxes would gut any government...
He is in charge of. Luckily for Milwaukee county they have a strong county board that frequently overrides his veto.

The veto override saved our county park system just in time for a economic collapse that saw huge useage of our parks.. Added bike racks to buses and several other measures.

Walker fiscally makes some good decisions and helps to cut waste and corruption but he still is a classic Wisconsin low tax, no tax radical Republican.

3. He is campaigning to be Gov. and his friend Karl Rove should be coming in
to Milwaukee soon to meet with the area Republicans. Don't have a date, but he is coming. If Big Talker Scott Walker has his way, he will do away with the whole Milwaukee Co. Govt. He is starting with the more vulnerable. Hard to believe his daddy is a minister.

5. Where do we find these assholes?
Do they grow on trees? Do they come off an assembly line? What? I bet if these pricks had even a shred of dignity we'd be far better off.
