Great, he has twelve million dollars he can spend on a football team. But whether it's Rush Limbaugh or Paul Pelosi, anyone with $12 MILLIOn to spend on a MOTHERFUCKING FOOTBALL TEAM is off my radar.

I respect the people who have high-fived him for his purchase, feeling good about the fact that the team was purchased by "one of us."

Paul Pelosi is not "one of us."

Unless you have $12 million to spend on a football team.

Then he's one of US to YOU, and STILL not the rest of "us."

I struggle to understand, on any level, why anyone gives a shit about this guy and his purchase.

Sorry, but FUCK Paul Pelosi.

Paul Pelosi Buys A Football Team

The Huffington Post | Les Carpenter
First Posted: 10-17-09 10:08 AM | Updated: 10-17-09 03:17 PM

Paul Pelosi, husband of Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif), is now the owner of a professional football team. The famously publicity-shy spouse of the current Speaker of the House bought the California Redwoods, a San Francisco-based franchise in the upstart United Football League. Pelosi has admitted that he's not a big professional sports fan -- he prefers recreational sports befitting of a successful businessman and political spouse: golf, cycling, and tennis. Pelosi says he paid $12 million dollars for the team because he deemed it a bankable investment. As he told the Washington Post:

"This is a business, I look at it as a business. I'm in this because I think it is a very solid financial investment that is going to be very successful...I never wanted to own a sports team. It's that old saying: Never say never."

Pelosi owns and operates Financial Leasing Services, Inc., a San Francisco, California-based real estate and venture capital investment and consulting firm. In addition, he sits on the boards of many philanthropic and corporate Boards in San Francisco and in the Washington, DC area.

I'm not surprised. Anyone living in Nancy Pelosi's district has to be pretty damn wealthy. San Francisco ain't cheap.

Privilege and wealth.. while America struggles to survive... what an asshole...

Still too much war. Still too much wealth inequality. Still too much unfairness. Still too much CONTROL.

For all of the rights, perks, tax breaks and advantages that we've given them, they haven't given a whole hell of a lot back . . . even compared to their counterparts of the Robber Baron age. Just a pile of http://journals.democraticunderground.com/HughBeaumont/86">wage stagnation, decade-long joblessness, shiny objects and "Horatio Alger" carrots on a leash. They share no burdens and make no sacrifices.

41. I see the distinction you're making. I think it's fairly safe to assume
that MANY of the uber wealthy DON'T use their wealth for others. They just want more for themselves.

I'm also reminded of the grandson of RJ Reynolds heading an anti-smoking organization, and the scion of -- was it Baskin Robbins? -- trying to educate people on the horrific "food" we eat. In those instances they were willing to lose their $$$ in order to do the right thing.

Yes I know $12 million is more than most of us have but two points.

1) The average NFL team is valued at about $1 billion.

2) If you can afford to live in San Francisco these days you usually have to be well to do. Most people who work minimum wage or service jobs in that city live outside of town. Some commute in from as far away as Stockton.
