I tried to give him (Bush) the benefit of the doubt today
I tried...I really tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and try to put politics aside for this event. It's the most a person can do at this point. But his words are so scripted. His tone is over-coached, almost a slur. These words are coming from a man that couldn't be bothered to attend a soldiers funeral or do anything during Katrina until it was too late.

His presence wasn't needed there, but I thought that maybe - just maybe - I needed to let my feelings go today and put politics and the past aside just long enough to mourn with the community. Another shameless political stunt. Why am I not surprised?

1. And he was the one who mocked Clinton for showing up at things like this
because the President being around only complicates things blah blah blah

I hate him.

4. It's stage-managed empathy.
He's a narcissist and cannot naturally feel for others.

5. There was no Heart in that speech. No 9/11 moment where the Country came as one
I have nothing for him at all

7. Bush is guilty for every crime in this country as far as I am concerned, by association
The funding for the police has been so radically cut, most of them aren't even allowed to have partners now. They're unable to do their job, or are replaced with incompetant officers not deserving of the name. The country is a bigger disaster than iraq when it comes to conduct...it may not be worse physically (IE blown up) but it's getting there.

I think that it should be hammered, the only political side of this I think should be mentioned, this is yet another 'most horrible disaster' that happened under the bush regime...that he could have prevented, but did not. Maybe not directly prevented...but indirectly with good leadership.

8. Well and how did that work out for ya?
His "presence" was truly not needed. He shamed us all, purely politcal bull shit.

Bush is one sick, truly sick m-f'er. He does not have one caring bone in his body.

10. Length of the Speech didn't matter as much as content
The content was lukewarm at best and I'll be damned if he didn't sound like he was sobering up.

11. My point exactly!
Even though it was short it could've been a dignified speech...it was neither in this case though.

14. The difference in this and Katrina is that he needed to take action during Katrina.
VA Tech didn't call for anything on his part except a photo op.
