Poll question: Is Limbaugh getting shafted by the NFL owners?
Edited on Thu Oct-15-09 06:50 AM by Buzz Clik
ESPN has been reporting for 24 hours that Limbaugh has been dropped by the group wanting to buy the St. Louis Rams NFL team.

Is this unfair to Limbaugh?

1. "We reserve the right to refuse service"
Such is the way of capitalism. Rush should stop whining.

2. The NFL is finally getting its stride when it comes to these matters.
The coaching ranks are finally starting make progress. Recently, the both teams in the Super Bowl were led by black coaches.

This is not the time to revisit the 1960s and the notion that "school buses should be segregated."

3. shafted??
these folks DO realize the NFL and MLB owner groups have closed out real, legit candidates in the past for pretty flimsy reasons, right? what did they think was gonna happen when a racist like limbaugh steps up to join a league that like 65 percent black??

"fairness" has NOTHING to do with it at all, especially when the NFL hurdles are so high...Hypothetically, if he wanted to own an NBA, NHL, or NASCAR (they'd love him) team, the vetting would be much lower...

4. You Reap What You Sew...
From a radio newsletter I got this morning...

Rush Limbaugh’s participation in the still-nascent bidding group led by St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts sounds as if it was always pretty tentative. Now Checketts says Rush’s presence among the limited partners interested in buying the St. Louis Rams became “a complication and a distraction to our intentions.” Rush is officially voted off the island. That’s a relief to many current team owners and to NFL management. And as T-R-I said yesterday, it gives the Premiere-syndicated Rush Limbaugh something more to talk about on his show. Sports Illustrated says that some in the league didn’t want another “Mark Cuban situation”, referring to the owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks who happily pays the fines for saying things that flout league rules or make the league uncomfortable. One source tells SI that with Limbaugh on the scene, "The league would be on pins and needles for three hours a day, five days a week.''

For one of the rare times in his charmed "career", rushbo has found out words do have consequences.

13. It Always Is...
But it's also a law of diminishing returns. He has his echo chamber that will reverb and spin this thing making rushbo look like the victim. The rest of us are moving on...he's not worth the interest or angst.

6. "...pins and needles for three hours a day, five days a week..." With Piglet doing the talk shows...
... it would be a lot more than that. And, the sports shows would start talking about him again.

No, it would be All Limbaugh All The Time.

10. In a league that suspends players for just getting arrested
not convicted just arrested to protect it's image, it seems perfectly fair.

14. Nah. Actually, in an earlier poll I voted supporting Limbaugh's right to be an owner.
I am certainly glad they dumped him.

15. I Have No Doubt That Many Of Those Owners Are As Racist As Limbaugh
However, they don't spread their hate daily on a national radio show. Limbaugh being involved with professional football would not be good for the sport.

16. I don't know anything about this deal at all but if it can be arranged
that Limbaugh is part-owner but must be confined to a basement apartment in Utah never to be heard from over the public airwaves again, I'm for it.
