I see in GD requests to DU this poll and that poll all the time.
Why not use automation? Here is how:
Poll type 1 (allows voting over and over and doesn't set cookies)
This poll can be identified by voting twice and seeing if it records both votes.
You'll need:1. Firefox (
http://www.getfirefox.com )
2. ReloadEvery extension (
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115 )
3. A URL for the poll
What to do:Install Firefox, open up a few tabs (depends on the speed of your computer.. maybe 3-10?) each with the URL of the poll. Set reload to reload page either every 0M 1S or 0M 0S for each tab, and you'll be voting quite a few times a second. Tada. You can go have coffee, walk your dog, take a trip to Paris -- the pages will keep on voting!
Poll type 2 (allows only one vote by setting a cookie that you have voted)
This one is a bit complicated because you have to clear cookies in between voting.
You'll need:1. Firefox (
http://www.getfirefox.com )
2. ReloadEvery extension (
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115 )
3. A URL for the poll
4. Jitbit Macro Recorder (
http://www.jitbit.com Free 30 day trial, $19.95 to buy)
What to do:1. Download the free trial of Jitbit, a macro program that will allow you to set your computer to keep voting (or any other repetitive task for that matter) while you sleep and do other things.
2. Using Mozilla Firefox, go to Tools/Options/Privacy/Settings, and clear all the options except "cookies". Press "OK".
3. Go to the poll's URL
4. Highlight the web address and copy it with ctrl+c.
5. Vote.
6. Start up your Jitbit program if you haven't already.
7. In Jitbit, press "Start Recording".
8. Click your mouse in your Firefox window.
9. Press ctrl+shift+del to open the clear cookies box, and press enter.
10. Press F5 to refresh the poll.
*Important*
Just in case something occurs that causes Firefox to go to a different page, click your cursor in the web address field and press ctrl+V to re-paste the URL for the poll that you previously copied.
11. Vote in the poll.
12. In Jitbit, stop recording the macro.
13. Set Jitbit to play the macro infinitely if you haven't done that already.
Play the macro and go do something (have coffee, walk the dog, visit Paris etc.) while it votes for you!!
Important: While Jitbit is running, make sure you do all your websurfing by opening another instance of Firefox or better still, use another browser like IE altogether so your voting is not interrupted :)
Enjoy!
