think of the new Public Option?

1. He said that as it stands now, it doesn't go far enough. He wants
a Public Option that anyone who wishes to can buy into; that it shouldn't just be for people who make under a certain amount of money. (I'm paraphrasing, not quoting.)

I'm with him on that. If it goes through as is, I will be precluded from buying into the PO. I DO want people without insurance to be insured, period. No one should be without access to healthcare in this country. But again, it should be available to all.

Oh, one other thing he said was that the way a good PO might come about is state by state, rather than all at once. I'm not particularly happy with that, but if ultimately it lead to a solid, nationwide PO, that would be better than none at all.

2. What's the income cutoff?
Is it tied to the poverty level according to household size?

3. He said the public option was not a choice like it was supposed to be but
that only certain demographics would be able to get it. In other words it will be means tested and those of you squeezed in the middle will still have to put up with the same crappy insurance you had all along. He says he is trying to introduce an amendment that will allow states to make a public option available to everyone. He said it is the best they can do in this Congress.

5. Was just gonna post that.
I forget that others hear him in the morning, since I'm so used to listening to him in the PM.
