If DU had been around since the beginning of this country...
(jokes about being in olden times with the interwebs aside) ...is there any President this country has ever had that the majority of us would have been happy with at the time?

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just speculating... would we, as a whole, ever have been "happy" with a standing President?

3. Japanese internment camps, and no change in the status-quo of southern racism and segregation.
So no...he had plenty of warts as well.

4. DU would've reamed FDR over getting us into WWII and the Japanese internment camps

DU likes to romanticize about FDR now... but we would've reamed him pretty good.

5. HA!

Doubtful.

At this point in Roosevelt's administration, people who had voted for FDR were turning on his National Recovery Administration acronym and using to mean "Never Roosevelt Again."

A contingent of the DU chorus would have been loudly following that banner, for much the same reasons they denounce Obama.

2. Well Majority is a tricky word
I don't think there is a President we would have liked enough that there wouldn't be some attacking of that President round these parts.

7. FDR

would have warn DU down with plain old charm and success and rallying points- eventually and then been given an ironic cheer for the too late new Bill of Rights and last Veep choice he was forced out of.

Jefferson maybe because we hadn't had enough bad educational experiences at that point in history, but there are some who would have sided with the Chief Justice on power limitations and turf.

Besides them, not a single one conceivably.

10. No, DU like many on the far left at his time would have taken FDR to task over
over many things including not going far enough with the New Deal and (rightly) on Civil Rights.

8. How about a sitting president?
But, no, not even Lincoln or FDR.

But, then, it's not really our role to all be "happy" with a president, sitting or standing.

(But if DU had been around way back then, think of how many of us would have scalded ourselves on those steam-powered computers.)

12. The campaigns of 1800, 1824, 1860, and 1876 would've ripped DU apart
DU would be screaming bloody murder over Clay's bargain with JQ Adams to hand over his electoral votes. DU never would've survived the Civil War campaigns either. There'd be a split between North and South and Lincoln and McClellan. The vitrol we had over 2000 and 2004 is nothing compared to the SEETHING HATE we'd experience during those campaigns.
