The moon missle underscores the need to introduce a bill to protect outer space from weaponization.
The time is far past for someone to step up and take initiative. It needs to be done like yesterday. We need a bill that can anticipate any future problems we might have by spelling out what kind of weapons people might have a sly idea about putting up there to ruin life down here and beyond, no matter how whacko the predictions sound. We need someone who's not afraid to look a little crazy in order to protect the future.

3. Wouldn't it be cool if the Moon completely exploded into tiny
fragments and there was no moon and the tides went whacky and destroyuted the earth and I didn't have to pay any more of my Student Loans?

Yeah! That'd be cool!!!

18. "Us" being who?
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 05:40 PM by DireStrike
The US? I dunno, perhaps the other countries should complain about it. Have they?

We don't know exactly what the impact will be on the moon, but it will likely be small. The moon has been getting hit by things for 4 or 5 billion years now. It will probably be ok.

8. my excimer laser platform is already prepared for launch.
the tiny nuclear power cell that powers it relies mostly on capacitor power, to provide a huge jolt when needed. Recycle time has been reduced to 5 minutes between shots. Damn thing is so accurate, that I can burn a three milimeter hole through Dick Cheney's mechanical heart from 150 miles, with no perceptible change in his behavior.

24. Outer Space Treaty
formally known as the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, is a treaty that forms the basis of international space law...

...it bars States Parties to the Treaty from placing nuclear weapons or any other weapons of mass destruction in orbit of Earth, installing them on the Moon or any other celestial body, or to otherwise station them in outer space...
