This is a lot more important, and the Great Dismal Swamp is far more important ecologically than the relatively small number (compared to the number of acres of those same pines still standing in Orange county, and in NC in general) of pines cut and cleared at Edwards' new house. Unfortunately, the Great Dismal Swamp just isn't as sexy and controversial. Neither is the Nantahala Forest or the Pisgah Forest, where Bush's new logging rules will take effect. Or the Pocosin Lakes Wildlife Refuge where the Pentagon wants to put in some kind of installation for military testing...

The corporations know that the willingness of ordinary Americans and a volunteer military to fight and die for their monetary interests is on the wane. They tried to create a crisis via 9/11 to infuse people with a feeling of patriotism and have continually hyped the inherent evilness of 'our enemies'. But those who were duped into serving them are now waking up and speaking out. And others have smelled the foul odor from the get-go. The powers-that-be know they will have to move to private militaries and make wars more high tech in order to accomplish their bloody dirty deeds.

People are naturally peace loving and very reluctant to make war so they must have that beaten out of them through rigorous conditioning or be inspired by a transcendant cause in order to go against their nature.

But the real evil is in our midst and if we are to become independent of this cancer then we must fight this militaristic movement...these hired guns. THIS should be our transcendent cause.
