Chicago shot down by the IOC is good
Edited on Fri Oct-02-09 04:54 PM by rollingrock
the moment they touched down on Chicago's O'hare airport to take part in the Olympics, all the visiting foreign athletes and spectators would probably be treated like terrorist suspects. Random strip searches, indiscriminate tazing, trigger happy security personnel, etc. These things seem to be commonplace events at US airports these days. The Bush era abuses have not retreated under the new administration. If I were an Olympic athlete from another country, I would probably think twice about traveling to the US to compete in the Olympics. It would be a nightmare scenario for civil rights, for Americans and visiting foreigners alike. The brutal police state army would be out in full force.

Pittsburgh police deploy the LRAD sonic cannon weapon
on peaceful G20 protestors.

edit: notice how the cop above is actually carrying an M16 automatic weapon,
in a residential neighborhood no less?

he looks like he's dying to mow down a bunch of unarmed protestors with it.

1. That's half the reason why the US was rejected
Bushco made the US unbelievably unpopular. I could just see athletes visas being turned down.

2. Not sure I agree
But POTUS needs to be working his ass off everyday for the next 7 years to recover what we have lost. The Olympics would be an unnecessary distraction.

4. You're assuming that they'd even get to Chicago
The last few times I've flown United, I was delayed at least a day coming and going becuase UAL is so terrible. My hunch is that the IOC wanted to go check out Chicago and got stranded in Milwaukee or something.
